Experience report from multiple HIPE users regarding the lifespan of their inflatable wing boards after several years of use.
Wing foilers: Bastien and Clément, GONG team riders, with HIPE Stunt and HIPE Lethal wing boards.
When asked about the reliability of the HIPE range on the GONG Galaxy group, HIPE users shared unequivocal responses:
Adam, HIPE user
“The HIPEs are extremely durable, I wouldn't worry about it at all.”
Joakim, HIPE First user
“Our old HIPE First is two years old now, first year on a boat in the tropics (never below 30 degrees celsius) and it is still going strong with no issues other than cosmetics.”
Ben, HIPE Cruzader user
“I've had my HIPE Cruzader for 2 seasons. I have ~80 sessions on it at this point and have had zero issues. I love that I can be near boats, not worry about dinging it and that it's slightly softer when I fall on it. I'll be adding a new one this year in a different shape, I was planning on a smaller freefly or diamond for windy days but with the NOTW and intruder I think I'll actually get one of those two since I'm primarily in light air. The weight savings are what's changed my mind to go for the NOTW, it's 3.1kg lighter than my cruzader which is ~35% less!”
Filipppo, I-SUP user
“My First inflatable SUP GONG still works since 2009. GONG inflatable boards quality is top.”
Yohann, I-SUP and HIPE user
“I have a first generation GONG Chip, so 2017 or 2018, it's still kicking. And in my summer vacation last years, the local club had 2 red GONG Couine Marie (so 2017) : they keep them inflated the whole season, they rent them and I've seen people let them cook in the sun or drag them on the beach, I don't think you can put them under more abuse. When I asked the club owner he told me that the only issue they had so far was a lost fin... that was replaced by GONG.
I expect most HIPE will last more than 10 years. The only thing I would worry about is overinflating it and having it melt in a much too high temperature.”
