The SUPERPOWER is our wing specially developed to take maximum pleasure in marginal conditions.
Its deep and very wedged hollow section combined with its high rigidity give it an excellent performance in difficult wind conditions. Its compactness and total depower make it a wing that remains easy to handle and comfortable. François gives us a little comparative test with his friends in conditions tailored for Superpower: 6 to 12 knots with big windfalls 😉
“Aaaaah, my first attempt in Superpower, I’m there, – 2 degrees but what can you do about that? This morning I joined my buddy to battle it out on the water. I arrived on the spot where the wind was blowing between 5 and 8 knots … well … that does not make you dream … We wait … And …. after 1 hour … first gusts at 10 knots… Come on, we motivate ourselves despite the cold that freezes us … and goooo !!
- My friend, 74kg, is on a 5m wing, an inflatable board of 135 liters and the XXL pro foil with the stab 55. Another friend arrives …. he’s 75kg, on a Zuma 6’3, a wing of 7m and XXL Rise.
- Me, 85kg, Mint 4’8, 80l and 6m Superpower, XLT Stab kite 45.
Okay, let’s see… let’s go!
Kneeling on the Mint, I wait for the gust to stand up because without wind I am sinking. I wait… And there, it comes. Standing, the Superpower inflates, the hollow is phenomenal… Wowuuuh… I am standing! I pump with the wing to wait for the next real gust while standing…
Biiiim it’s there… I would say 11 knots max … I pump as I can and yipaaaaaaa… I FLYYYYYYY !!!! And off we went for 2 hours of euphoria… just mind blowing !
“Bluffing”
My friends also fly but clearly in terms of power we don’t play in the same court. Bluffing rigidity once the hollow is inflated, it flies upwind, and a really bluffing handling … I would even say hallucinating! It’s big… it’s a 6 !! But it turns strong. Relaunch at the end of jibes, tack etc are automatic. I love it!!!
My buddy asks me to try, ok. I take his wing, I stay under the water, well, I wait! There are 6/12 knots max and 9 medium. He enjoys it, has the smile, returns it to me after 5 tacks which will have been enough for him to order one as soon as the session is over. In short! Just awesome material for lightwind. In this wind range, the wing is relatively light in the hands in terms of weight, and it never touches the water … that’s se cool !!!
The spinnaker does not flap under these conditions, tight. Rigid wing and therefore efficient in all areas. Superb speed too and the angle in relation to the one my mates have is so much better !
I compare it to foil kite”
In short, pumped up in my garden, I must admit that it did not make me dream. But on the water! That’s a whole different story…
Finally the observations will show us between 6 and 12 knots for this session, with big holes of several minutes. But once in the air, no problem for this Superpower if you know how to pump in foil and you save your energy at the right time and wait for the wing to create its apparent wind. I compare it to foil kite. A clearly lightwind wing. In 7.5 I dare not imagine its low range “
