First sessions with the new Stunt, the board dedicated to Surf-Freestyle, for our ambassador Frederic. He shares his first impressions in pictures.

A real skateboard

“The new Stunt is a nice surprise, you can do everything with it, a real skateboard! Weighing 87/90kg and previously riding a 2023 Lethal (85L), I was a little hesitant to go down in volume at start, as I prioritize restart and reception comfort. At the moment, I free-fly more than I jump, but I really want to improve on this, hence my choice for this board in 2024. The description made me take the plunge, and I’m glad I did!”

Easier take off

“I was immediately impressed with its great stability at standstill despite the 5L less, it wasn’t a problem at all. Then it’s time to take flight, you start out like on a windsurfing board. You let the flat rear third of the board hull glide to start planing, you pop and off you fly. It easier to take off than with my previous Lethal, you need less “up/down” pumping with the wing and legs.”

A great board in surfig

“Another important point, the board is 500g lighter, which is significant for a fully-equipped board weighing less than 6kg. It is designed for freestyle, but is great in surfing and goes upwind perfectly. Its low dimensions (nose and tail widths) make it ideal for the most radical turns in the waves, never handicapping, it does not touch down. Despite the diagram on the product page, it works perfectly well in Freerace too and you can tilt the board without difficulties.”

Glide and repop

“Note that I used a 1° rise shim on the Lethal 23 that I don’t used anymore on the Stunt 24. I was pushing too hard on the front foot and felt like I was nose-up. The real advantage of the Stunt is also its relaxed rocker, it can be very upsetting at the beginning when you’re used to the Lethal, but it provides incredible glide. In combination with the flat hull, it’s a delight when you make touchdowns. You glide even more, and therefore repop very easily.”

Compact for its volume

“For the moment, I don’t feel really at ease when landing jumps. Firstly, because the sessions I made were rather in waves. Secondly, because I just recover from an injury. Lastly, because it is 5L less than my previous Lethal, which given my weight, is maybe not an advantage. This situation is yet to be confirmed… This Stunt is stunning, very compact for its volume, maneuvers, whether surfing or jumping, are increased tenfold, a real skateboard with phenomenal glide.”
