FEEDBACK: PULSE DP UPE ARAMID

Among the firsts to receive the Pulse DP with double profile in its innovative UPE Aramid technology he ordered on batch one, Ilja has shared feedback from his first session with this revolutionary Race wing.

Wing foiler : Julien, team rider GONG, in Pulse DP UPE Aramid and Cruzader Diamond FSP Pro.

Hooked in rides and stability

“I tried the Pulse DP 5.5 today for the first time, starting out in 25 kts with Ypra-S L (HM92, +1deg fuse, Veloce Pro 40 stab). First thing that came to mind was: this wing sure pulls hard!

A full harness is needed in these conditions, belt type does not really give enough support to your back anymore. It was doable but the gusts were a bit too much.

Later on the wind dropped to 15kts and I got out with Ypra-S S and Ypra-M.

The Pulse DP felt super stable and consistent, you can point almost straight into the wind while keeping very good speed.

When flying, it keeps going in nearly nothing with great stability, hooked in the harness and banking the board, complementing the glide of the Ypra M.

A clear difference is noted riding hooked in!

No other wing has felt this planted when riding with the harness, pushing against the board from the side, it feels really stable and fast. Great feeling!”

Construction and double skin

“I wasn’t able to test top speed due to the ultra gusty conditions but the potential is there as the stability is helping you to push hard with confidence.

The build quality and attention to details is impressive.

The UPE-Aramid tube feels very durable, strong and stiff compared to the previous Dacron.

One thing to check while inflating with the pump hose through the small hatch, is to check that the double skin does not get stuck on the hose as this could maybe rip the fabric.

I think I would have made the hatch round instead of square, so you don’t have the two corners that might rip at a certain point.

Another thing I noticed is when holding the wing by the handle, it has a bit more of a tendency to pull down, which needs some getting used to.

The double skin does not catch water easily and when it does, the water releases no problem. No need to worry about that. It doesn’t matter how the wing lands on the water.

All in all a great wing for people that are looking for a bit more performance oriented winging and a nice boost in performance compared to the previous generation of wings.

Can’t wait to go out again!

PS: After trying this, I think for the other riding styles the Droid in the same UPE-Aramid construction with boom & wasp strut must be pure bliss as well…”

To sail with a new Pulse DP UPE Aramid from the third batch, order before January 31st!
