FEEDBACK: PULSE DP PERF SERIES
Currently second in the standings on the GWA and WingFoil Series pro tours, our team rider Julien Rattotti looks back on the developments of the new Pulse DP from the Perf Series range.

Wing foiler: Julien, GONG Team Rider, with a Pulse DP, Racer FSP Pro, HM107 mast and Ypra-S front wing.
A more specialized wing
"It is a wing which is clearly evolving towards freerace and race. It adopts the features of the Pulse DP UPE Aramid from the Team Series collection but with a double skin which only covers 30% of the wing, compared to 50% for the Team Series, which makes it less technical and easier to master.”
Stability and speed
“This new shape with double skin shines with exceptional stability. You can literally sit in the harness, perfectly locked for a speed run. The control with the boom is super precise and allows you to easily adjust the harness line according to your preferences.
The concept of this wing makes it easier to use, and each rider having a different technique, this ease of access represents a major advantage when it comes to pushing the performance. In terms of sensations, this wing provides a completely different experience from classic wings. It requires speed to stabilize it on all points of sail.”
Feeling of a windsurf sail
“During my navigations, I feel a strong pull on the front hand, reminiscent of a slalom sail in windsurfing. To make a meaningful comparison for windsurfers, with the Pulse DP Perf Series, I have the impression of using a three-camber windsurf sail, without the disadvantage of weight.
To maximize the effectiveness of this front hand, I slide my harness line slightly back, which engages the wing forward and generates speed. It is crucial not to sheet the wing excessively in when getting up to speed, as the double profile will make you feel it and you will have to bear down.
For this profile to work, you will need to tame it. The handling may seem quite unusual at first, but once mastered, it is a tool of choice to blast by your buddies. The little secret is not to force it by overdoing it. This wing is made to penetrate the air, which requires finesse.
For example, the wing must remain stable and steady, similar to SailGP boats which have rigid profiles ensuring perfect laminar flow. This is essential when reaching high speeds, be it in wing foiling or sailing. Above 18 to 20 knots, it is no longer necessary to pump with the wing. You just have to feel the wind in the wing and choose the right direction to gain speed. We can reach impressive speeds with this new type of wing."
