FEEDBACK: NEUTRA UPE

First skeptical about rigid handles and UPE wings, Hugo changed his mind after adding a Neutra UPE to his quiver.

The best wing
“Well.. As they say, only fools don’t change their minds. Several months ago, I was skeptical about wings with rigid handles, then I ended up falling for a Neutra RH and being won over. More recently, the UPE also left me skeptical given its direct sales price and the timing of its launch. But I was curious and had to change my 5m2, so I went for it. Today, I can say without a doubt that it is the best wing with which I have been able to sail, along with the famous orange wings whose name I will not mention.”
Perfectly balanced
“I haven’t inflated it past 9 psi and yet it feels like a rock. No need to inflate more! Mid-session, considering what the beast offers, I switched to the Veloce M-H in 15-16 knots. This was the real test for me! It is more than conclusive. Three light pumping strokes and you’re on the foil. With this wing, I think I can take off in 13-14 knots with the M-H by pushing a little and at 11-12 knots without any problem with the XL. It’s light in the hand, perfectly balanced. When surfing you don’t feel it, it stays quietly behind without ever hanging around.”
A pace increased tenfold
“In navigation, we increase our pace tenfold. The handles and the profile of the wing are perfectly crafted to allow you to fly in comfort. I reached 22 knots without even trying too much and despite a rough body of water.
The maneuvers are much simpler. I was making 1 tack out of three with the 750, I was at 100% yesterday. As soon as you grip the handle, you have power. This changes absolutely everything.
On the jumping side, the lift is on another level! The wing does not bend a millimeter, you have the impression of being suspended from a parachute on the way down!!! It goes higher and we stay there longer!”
Conclusion
“Conclusion: huge gain in low range, huge gain in speed! The wing is necessarily a bit more physical and will be held less far in high range. However, in one session, we will do twice as much while barely reducing our navigation time, and even then…”
