Detailed feedback from Frédéric after several sessions with the Neutra 2023 which he can now compare to his Neutra V2 and other wings on the market.

Wing foiler: Malo, GONG team rider, with the Neutra, Lemon FSP Pro and Fluid H Foil.

“I have been sailing with the Neutra V2 and 2023 alternately for 2 months now. The V2s were better than the V1s, this is also the case for the 2023s which are better than the V2s ??‍♂️. Please note the Neutra V2 are excellent wings at a more affordable price because they are on sale and also very accessible from a technical point of view.

Review of Neutra 2023:

1- They are much more rigid and much tighter and that allows a lot of things:

Much simpler tacks, it doesn’t push back at the fateful moment…
Better heading.
They are more powerful in the light wind.
They deform less in strong winds.
You jump higher and you stay much higher too, the lift is better.
Rotations in the air and on the water are faster.

2- There are only 2 handles left, it avoids thinking about which one to take and also to waste time.

In 40 knots when your wing is going in all directions, wasting time changing handles can be enough to unbalance you, at least when starting, in the air it’s painless, we keep flying for the time of the change but we lose some time anyway.

3- They are lighter. Here’s the weight of both wings, equipped with the leash and harness line:

Neutra V2 3m=2120g
Neutra 2023 4m=2050g
A 4m 2023 lighter than a V2 3m!

Initially I didn’t really find any interest since the wind carries the wings ?‍♂️, but in freefly surfing you’re just freer with a lighter wing, it doesn’t descend, and doesn’t really need to rely on the wind anymore.

All those to whom I have been able to lend these Neutra 2023 are unanimous on the very positive feeling, even those coming from major brands seem won over and are thinking seriously about why they should be paying 40% more for their gear.

But it’s not all perfect, they have the defects of their qualities. They require a pumping technique which may be less intuitive at first than on a V2. I used to tell beginners they could directly start with the Neutra V2. Now I would rather tell them to start with the Plus 2023 and then to evolve towards a Neutra 2023 or 2024 thereafter… This Neutra 2023 has clearly specialized in Wave riding (surfing and jumping).”
