FEEDBACK: MAT HM 85

Feedback from Valentin who adopted the High Modulus mast for his wing foiling sessions.

“I’m 1m67, 44 kg and apparently 32 years old .? I’ve had a few masts in my possession: Alu V1 (70, 80, 90), Monobloc 85, Alu V2 85, Carbone V2 85 mast. a Veloce LH in lightwind (-10 knots), Ypra MS and Ypra XS. When carried on the shoulder, I didn’t find any difference apart from the trailing edge, which may be a little thinner, so it can hurt my hands. On takeoff, I didn’t find any real difference, as I can take off in nothing it’s complicated to take off in less than nothing?, but I think there is a small gain.
In flight, it’s a whole different story!!!
A better glide, more responsive, I feel like my feet are screwed directly to the front wing and the stab? . On the high speed phases, I have a better glide than with the 85 carbon, I find that at equal speed the drag of water behind the mast is reduced, I think it has better acceleration. When sailing with a lot of angle (one of my passions?) I find it more stable when the tip of the front wing breaches.
In curves, the mast is more responsive.
Personally, given my weight I don’t need something more rigid. My test to see the rigidity of a mast is to sail in the wake of a large motor boat. I think I have found my limit because when I sail full speed in a rough wake, it is I who vibrate, not the mast??. For jumps, on the pop phase I don’t see any difference, in the air either, at the reception there are no shaky moments and it is easier to keep your flight. In surfing, I don’t have much experience with it yet, so I can’t say anything, on the other hand in freefly it’s great, you keep its speed better and in pumping it’s super responsive. As I manage to feel the foil better, I can recover more easily from errors (when my foil breaches, I can recover more easily when stallling). Another positive point that I have seen with the HMs, the leaves, algae (etc.) do not stay stuck on the mast and end up leaving and that’s just the dream?
In conclusion, this mast is magical!!!
If you want an all-purpose mast, this is the one for you, switching to HM is well worth it.”
