FEEDBACK: KITE BOARD CATCH FSP 2X
Gaby shares a feedback on the latest Catch Kite Board after having had one of the very first models underfoot a few years ago.
“A little feedback from the Catch in 5’0 in strapless surfing in conditions that weren’t great with chop plus strong and gusty winds (25/35), and a few small waves from time to time. I weigh 78kg and have an advanced level.
I had bought one of the first prototypes of the Catch (called Pie Catch at the time) years ago which had been one of my favorite boards and I was eager to try the new model! From the old one I loved its grip in all conditions and an ultra skaty rail to rail!
“It is ultra reactive!”
With the new one I really found some of these sensations, it is ultra reactive! I no longer remember the size of the old one but it was bigger (5’2/5’3…), this one in 5’0 is super nervous, in the really average conditions that I could test it I was able to have a lot of fun! The old one was in quad and the new one in thruster, the grip is different, less pressure on the fins and more on the rail. On the other hand, at the pivot of the tail it is felt a lot, it needs less effort from the rear foot to turn, it pivots more easily but keeps power in the rear foot which helps to pump on small waves to keep (or even gain) speed.
The board goes fast and passes the chop very well, it’s a real knife! Very good pop too, even on small kicks it stays well in the air, don’t hesitate to bend your front leg well to keep as much wind as possible on the wide nose 😉
The weight is also much more contained than the old one! I really loved the old one, but it was quite heavy! The new one is lighter and the FSP 2X construction is shock proof! Really a great upgrade!
I admit a little crush on this board which I think will become my everyday board again with another surf for waves of size ++”
