Our Team Rider David Rodal Santiago shares his opinion on the efficiency of the Karmen in average conditions.

The Karmen even in smaller waves
“The popular belief is that for smaller or slower waves you need an easy, wider and more voluminous SUP board that you would normally use… but it really doesn’t have to be. It might even be more difficult! When surfing powerful waves, the wave helps you with momentum and speed… making it easier for you to complete maneuvers. The difficult part on a small or flat wave is to gain that speed, which the shape of a Karmen helps you a lot with.”
A shortSUP that flies in slower waves
“With the Karmen, a perfect balance has been achieved between a volume that allows you great stability when paddling, with a yet perfectly adjusted thickness of rails and tail for performing on the wave. An excessively thick tail would not allow you to make a good bottom turn. You would move away from the wave and lose speed. The quality of the tail of the board is key to position yourself perfectly and generate speed. On the Karmen the tail of the board is your gas pedal. It is a very fast board that allows you to make maneuvers very easily, really in all types of waves. It is a perfect board for intermediate SUPers who want to take the next step, tightening their turns and catching better waves.”
