Transition from the HIPE 5’3 to the HIPE Pro 5’1 for Manu who loses 15L of buoyancy in the process. So he had some apprehension for his first session on his new board. Here is how it went.
“I have just returned from my first session with the new HIPE Pro 5’1 after having sailed over 800 kms with the HIPE 5’3.
Very very light conditions, from nothing to 12 knots, maybe 15 for about 10 minutes. I was sailing an in-land spot with a 7 m², a Fluid XXL-S and my Stab Fast 45.
Some doubts when first launching, I got on my knees and then straight up. It sure is less stable but I’m 82 kilos and it’s okay even without wind. It makes the core muscles work but it’s fine. I take off with 2 or 3 gusts, maybe not as early as with the 5’3 but after 20 minutes on the water, I really start to be at ease and above all completely dry. The wind picks up a little up to 12/13 knots and taking off is now instantaneous, the board is much livelier, so much easier to go upwind, the jibes engage easily with more carve, changing feet is so much easier too. Just looking forward to having another session in real conditions.”
