Test of the HIPE Pro 4’8 by Nicolas, 49 years old, 88 kgs and experienced foiler, during a flat session with the SuperPower.

“My gear for this session: Superpower 6m, Veloce XL-H and its H40 Stab, flat spot with the typical wind of La Ramee in Toulouse, that is to say between 8 and 20 knots!
Normally I would not even have wanted to try this volume as my motto is “the smaller the better” (I’m talking about boards), but it is clear that in marginal conditions – and unless I go for a diet – I’m sinking on my HIPE Pro 4’6! Which in itself isn’t that much of a problem, but forces me to wait for the gust sitting down, which can make me miss takeoffs if the gust is too short. On the 4’8 I am stable standing and therefore more efficient to take off with the slightest gust of wind.
If there’s wind, zero difference with the 4’6 to take off. Same quality of glide, a generous volume in front which allows for a great rebound (cork technique) in addition to the glide to take off as quickly as possible… it’s very useful with my new HA front wings.
Another aspect that interested me was its stability on landing because in freestyle on flakas and 360 handle passes, I often crashed after landing with a volume that was too limited to be comfortable… that’s ancient history on the 4’8, I make my landings 2 times more! In transitions and cruising I found little difference between the 2, it really doesn’t matter much. The 4’8 is absolutely not disabling…
In summary, a lot of advantages to this 4’8 for my size, even if as soon as it blows a little hard I directly go for the 4’6… Thank you Patrice Guénolé for the toys ?”
