Feedback from Gwen after a transition from the HIPE Perf 5’3 to the HIPE Pro 4’8:

“Always happy to read your feedback on the equipment, I in turn give you my impressions following my first sessions on the HIPE Pro 4’8.
I started wing foiling on a HIPE V2 5’3. 65 kg, very modest level, I make 80% of my jibes, the tacks I don’t know, haven’t tried too much yet!?
First impression: the board looks tiny! Hence a first session carried out very quickly, without waiting for wind, to validate that I can stand up: so yes, it’s harder to get on the board, then to stand up, but you adapt very very quickly: this is in no way a sticking point. The following sessions, with wind: the chop disturbs more than on the 5’3, a fairly clear change but not at all out of reach.
In flight, it’s great!
The biggest difference: the absence of front/rear inertia thanks to its short format. In the end, we recover from mistakes more easily since there is less weight to counterbalance. The impression also of having a feather under the feet. It greatly facilitates the transitions, whereas one would have thought that a smaller board would be more difficult. Take-off is faster than with my 5’3: it’s surprising, maybe the lighter weight or the rounder tail? In any case, take-off is very easy.< Be careful! A major point of vigilance when entering the water: the tail being rounder, the board is much less stable when it is on its back. So be careful while walking with the board on its back before flipping it around when depth is sufficient. It’s a huge difference, you have to be careful to stabilize it to avoid puncturing your wing!
In summary: always a fan of the inflatable concept.
The HIPE Pro 4’8 is very pleasant, responsive and super compact. Very happy with this development! Thank you GONG team!”
