FEEDBACK: HIPE CRUZADER 6’6 2025
A successful first session on an inflatable board in light wind with the impressive HIPE Cruzader!
Wing foiler: Bastien, GONG team rider, on a 2025 HIPE Cruzader with a Plus wing fitted with a Boom.
Easy riding in under 10 knots with the HIPE Cruzader?
“Well… I have to admit, I was honestly pretty skeptical at first.
I bought the GONG HIPE Cruzader 6’6 a bit ‘opportunistically’ during a promo (€430 for a brand-new DW board 😱), without really being convinced by the inflatable concept.
For context: solid overall level, 88 kg, and I usually ride a 2025 Cruzader LW 6’6… which I was getting tired of repairing (dings, harness hook hits, ground contact, etc.). So yes, I had quite a few doubts before this test.
Conditions that day: steady 6/7 knots, a few gusts barely reaching 10 knots, definitely not the dream day.
I was fully geared for light wind with a 6m² SuperPower and a Sirus V3 XL front wing / Veloce V3 XL stab / HM85 16mm carbon mast.
👉And yet…”
Comparison with the Cruzader Point LW
“The extra width allows for a thinner board → clearly better connection with the foil.
I didn’t feel any particular difficulty compared to the rigid board when standing (it even felt a bit easier than the LW, which is slightly narrower).
In the lulls: super easy pumping, no ‘chewing-gum’ feeling at all despite it being inflatable.
I actually found it easier than the LW, with a truly impressive feeling of lightness.
The pad is excellent: perfect grip (just like on the rigid).
Honestly, a big surprise: Less expensive ➡️ More durable ➡️ Performance equivalent to rigid boards (even better in some phases).
So here’s a real question for Patrice Guénolé: why isn’t everyone riding inflatables today?🤔” – Thanks to Prm for this feedback on GONG Galaxy.
