FEEDBACK : front wing XL 90 !!!

“TEST ; 90 CM WING :
Well, getting warm, kinda, it’s 4° outside, with rain… almost better to stay in the water! I tested the 90 cm Wing, XL : when paddling I felt lighter when taking off in soft waves, but I still need to be well placed, it’s not magic ! Once on the wave, the pop from the get go is perfect, it lifts off quick and you can really feel where you need to have your stance to control her, and calmly. My first wave, I felt destabilised compared to my 80cm……not the same supports, as much the stance as with the foot pressure, I was ok but I needed to get used to my new toy. 3 waves later, I was surprised by the speed, (29 km/h in V max in 50/70cm on my Garmin) and the manoeuvrability for a 90cm! It turns pretty well…. less than the 80 cm but good…and I did not need to necessarily put more force into it, just get that back foot back a little and dose it. To get through the flat sections… how can I say this….well it’s straight magic… it flies through it, and continues flying, to accelerate sufficiently to stay in the air and you force less on the legs and it is clearly less physical with distance and wave length. But be careful, the magic is there if you know how to use it, it’s not going to simply make miracles… pumping to get back out to the peak, like you see in the videos… yes, it’s clearly easier than the 80 cm but it’s not magic either… you need to put a minimum of effort in. I feel like this Wing would be perfect in Downwind, SUP and Surfoil because she flies in nothing and remains ‘dynamic’ and very playful underfoot. Surprising for this Wing and this size…yes, and I think with enough sessions and getting used to surfing it, it could become my primary Wing in hip high mushy conditions… we’ll see. We’ll see how limited her manoeuvrability is because the 80 cm is still an incredibly superb do-it-all Wing for my 86kg and much faster and more playful, it’s just incredible!! The 90 cm, at the worst, will be perfect for playing in the wind and on days where I’m tried and feel like flying a la cool…. well, in any case the gear is the bomb shizzle….70, 80, 90cm’s for the moment………yeah… they work!!” Foiler : François et son GONG Surfoil Allvator 65 XL.
