Enjoy the acceleration of a fish without losing that shortboard feeling with the hybrid shape of the Fork. A shape that appealed to Emmanuel, who shares his opinion with us in this feedback.
Surfing: Moritz, GONG team rider, in Fork EPS.
“Over forty and 92kg, intermediate level surfer but not as sharp as I used to be
I tested the mini-Simons Matata in 6'3, nice surprise but I wasn’t feeling totally at ease when surfing backside due to the keels.
With Fred's advice, I ordered the 6'5 Fork.
Here’s what I can share about it after a few sessions (80cm - 150cm) with it:
- easier to duck dive, therefore in high range less fatigue and eventually a higher wave count (logical).
- the drive of the board is closer to my experience as a shortboarder with the pleasure of pumping and having performance, acceleration and grip!
- paddling is more pleasant and efficient because there is less rolling.
- easy to take off and paradoxically handles hollow waves pretty well
In short, obviously I lose a bit of the low end but I appreciate the improvement on all other levels.
The Matata is a great board too but it does not suit me as much as the Fork which is a real revelation and allows me to have fun while erasing placement errors or choppy conditions.
Thank you Patrice Guénolé and the GONG team.”
