The first reviews on our new kites are starting to come in, like that of David who was able to test the Elips 6m and its different settings during a fun wave sesh.
Kitesurfer: Airton, GONG Team Rider, with a custom Catch, Elips kite (Perf Series) and FeelX bar.
First impression
“My first session with the Elips can be summed up in one word: awesome! And that’s a good thing because I ordered a full set! 😅 I got myself an 8-6-4 quiver for strapless surfing (I’m just below 80 kg). I first was hesitant on the beach with a wind that seemed to be somewhere around 20 knots at best (which in the end turned out to be the lower end of what it really was). I decided to go for the 6m and the first good surprise: I could easily gain ground upwind and directly surfed a wave with 4-5 turns on my way back. The feeling was really good from the get-go. I was feeling comfortable and told myself that this was gonna be an awesome sesh. Out of curiosity I decided to return to the beach to switch from the factory setting on the tips to the more responsive off-center position. Why deprive yourself? 🙂.”
Boost in reactivity
“Back to the water, the boost of reactivity is significant with the adjustment of the back lines towards the trailing edge. So cool to be able to execute turns at this speed. Despite very choppy faces, I managed to complete my turns with control because the kite lets you do the necessary adjustments with drift or re-acceleration through the window. As I saw that there was also a possible setting on the leading edge, I stopped a second time to test the set-up which promises more depower and rotation speed.”
Pivot and power delivery
“Again, the difference is significant and goes in a direction that I really like. The kite gives the impression of rotating instantly on a pivot point. Everything is more precise. Also worth mentioning is the power that can be called upon constantly. In my opinion this kite allows for solid strapped jumps, certainly with the factory setting. The bar feels lighter after changing the setting. As for the depower, it is very long which is super comfortable when tuning the power in turns. Looking forward to the next session to confirm this very positive impression!”
