A comparison test of the Droid 2026 across its different constructions by a long-time ambassador!

Tests over several sessions

“Procrastination, when you’ve got a hold on me! I’m arriving a bit late to the party since all my friends have already shared their thoughts on the 2026 models, but as with all good things worth waiting for, here’s finally my feedback on the Droid 2026!

In my defense, I do have a few excuses… First, it’s winter, and honestly the conditions and the motivation weren’t always there… Second, I had four wings to test: Droid Perf Series 4m, Droid Aramid-X 4m, Droid Aramid 5m, and Droid CZ 5m… Third, I also wanted to take a few photos somewhere other than my garden!

And when I test gear, I don’t just do one quick session. I usually want several sessions, and during the same session I also rotate the wings to compare them in equivalent conditions. So I did multiple sessions alternating between the two 4m wings, and others comparing the two 5m wings.”

The Droid Perf Series or the Droid Aramid-X?

“Let’s start with the comparison between the 4m wings: Perf Series vs Pro Team Series.

You might think the match would be over quickly, but it’s worth taking a closer look. After a long break from winging to try to get less clumsy at lowkite, it felt like returning to an old love. Having ridden Aramid-X for the past few years, I thought I’d start easy with the Perf Series.

And just like riding a bike, you don’t forget. Instant fun getting back into winging. I was mostly in the low end of the 4m range, first tack with a little palau to warm up before throwing a few backloops… For the least performance-oriented wing in the lineup, it works really well. I threw a few jumps to see what it had in terms of pure height and hangtime. The feeling is very stable and reassuring.

After 45 minutes, I switched to the Aramid-X… The comparison is simple: it’s the same wing… on steroids!!! On the first jump I got such an elevator ride it almost scared me… Luckily it glides so well that you can land super smoothly! For tricks, the extra amplitude gives you a very comfortable safety margin for clean landings.

These first impressions were confirmed after several sessions. A really great vintage.”

Droid Aramid with classic triple ripstop canopy or Code Zero canopy?

“Now let’s move on to the 5m wings. Starting with the classic Aramid. It sits perfectly between the Perf Series and the Pro Team Series. You still get the core qualities of the Droid shape, but for me personally, if I had to choose, I’d rather go with one of the extremes. I think this wing will appeal to riders who don’t have truck-driver arms like me and prefer a slightly smoother pull.

Final test: the CZ. On paper it’s absolutely not my style, but I had to try it… Nice surprise. It’s a powerful wing with strong pull on the front hand that lets you ride full speed. Also very enjoyable for jumping. In freeride, I really like it.

However, for freestyle, the Aramid-X is clearly far ahead for me, which is completely normal.”

Choosing a Droid 2026?

“To conclude, I learned two things:

The 2026 wings are a great vintage. Whatever model you choose, there’s no bad option.
I’m going to re-equip myself for winging, because clearly lowkite can only be a complementary discipline for me, not my main one. In marginal conditions, winging wins 100% of the time!
