The new Droid passed through the hands of Tom who was able to compare it with his usual Neutra V2.
“Aesthetics:
I find that in general they are very pretty, both in the colors and in the shape.
Power:
Pumping is quite different from the 2022s, at the beginning it is penalizing but once you get the hang of it there is a better glide and the board takes off better. In the low range I find it difficult to compare because this is a wing size that I have never tried, but with the right pumping it seems to me that we gain in the low range.
Maneuverability/rigidity:
Compared to the 2022, the 2023 have a real advantage with this tight trailing edge and the fact that there are only two handles. They are lighter and more maneuverable, especially when tacking. The handles are well placed (a time of adaptation is necessary to find the rear handle when relaunching after a tack ?). In the surfs the Wing is more easily forgotten, and I think that with a Neutra it is even more striking.
With this rigidity of the wing, we have a better high range, it does not “flap”, it is a real pleasure for those who prefer to be overpowered like me.
The only drawback that I note is on the heading, I did go upwind better with my old Neutra 2022 (I have no comparison with a Droïd 2022…).
In summary :
For me it is a great wing to enjoy in all conditions, it is not a monster of heading but to have maneuverability in surfing, tacking and all other tricks it is great. In particular thanks to its lightness and the square ears which reduce the wingspan and allow better receptions.”
