FEEDBACK: CURVES L-T, XL AND XL-T !!!

Our Curve front wings are available in many sizes (M, M-T, L, L-T, XL-S, XL, XL-T and XXL) to cover all riders and all practices. Our ambassador Yohann, 1m92 for 95 kg, gives us a feedback on the sizes he uses in wing.

“The Curve XL-T

It has been my default foil for a very long time in wing foiling as in surf foiling, I use it with the Veloce 47 stab. It has been a while since I tried to sail in a wind that was too light to make it take off.

With the Lethal 5’3 and the Droïd 7, I think I took it off with a gust of 12 knots. I never had the impression of “too big” with it. It’s very permissive and really allows you to hold on to very low speed flights. It follows small waves very well and is really comfortable in the surfs. Its default foil position in my quiver is being taken by the Veloce XXL but it is still my choice for light and rather stable wind.

The Curve XL

It was my first Curve after the XXL Rise, the transition was made perfectly smooth without any difficulty (except having enough wind). Since I have the XL-T it no longer comes out except for a test from time to time but I always come back to the XL-T. When I think about taking this XL I have the impression of going just as fast in XL-T. I manage to pump further, with the wing in neutral position. The XL-T holds up a little better at low speeds.

The Curve L-T

I was able to test the L-T this week-end (stab Veloce 43): a flat session then a wave session, both in a steady and comfortable wind:

  • No particular difficulty of stability or takeoff, I probably need more wind to take off but the conditions did not allow me to verify it.
  • No adaptation to stomp the transitions: I can attack them with ease and finish them with enough speed.
  • I manage to go faster. It’s very clear and it’s much more comfortable to try to push the speed than in XL or XL-T.
  • In the surf, the waves were bigger than what I’m used to taking: it accelerates very hard on the descent, it’s very healthy and much easier to keep everything in the water. At my level, I had no surprises in the curves: everything went smoothly without stalling or skidding.

So if the L-T was my foil for wing foiling, it is clear that I would use it for sure from 17-18 knots in the gusts, just the top speed gain would motivate me to let go of my large wings.”
