FEEDBACK: CURVE XL, CURVE LT AND VELOCE L !!!

Frédéric, GONG Ambassador, shares with us an interesting feedback on the use of different Front Wing and stab when Wing Foiling. And proves that with a Front Wing Quiver, you can take advantage of each session according to the conditions.
“Feedback for the Veloce L vs Curve LT vs Curve XL. As a bonus Veloce 47 vs Surf 45 Stab.
Rider me, 80kg. Conditions: 12/30 Knots on a few flat and swell sessions. Equipment: Wings 4/5/6m Pulse depending on conditions. Lemon 5’2 & 1m Carbon Mast.
This is the Curve XL that takes off earliest. It’s also the least technical of the 3. We let it skim, push off the feet, pump a little and off we go for the magic carpet ride. In flight it’s very stable, easy to jibe, and on swell descents it saturates a little in speed I sometimes find. The impression to have the swell which goes faster. It’s the one you get the most out of the low range but the least in maximum. Very reassuring.
The Curve LT, indeed “almost” the same in the lower range as the XL but clearly more maximum with a higher ratio. It’s more “playful,” faster, and more nervous underfoot without causing too much trouble. It’s easy to jibe because you have more speed and you can generate more speed by pumping vs. the XL. A little more technical at takeoff without shocking you too much. Really not bad for my size with 1/2 knots less in the low range. A delight in surfing. It jumps well too! Probably my favorite to Surf/DW swell.
The Véloce L. Then there, we change dimension/sport. Nothing to do with the 2 previous ones. Probably the “smallest” for my size. (The Xl is on standby). It needs minimum 20 knots of air for it to be enjoyable. Underneath it’s technical at the takeoff, you need to pump a lot and fight for it. However, once in the air it’s great. It’s another sport. It moves in all directions, you don’t have to push for it to turn but just turn your head! It obeys your every move. It reacts and turns on a dime. A real skateboard, a real “slippery ride, and above all it goes fast.
I didn’t have enough conditions to try it completely (especially in waves), but it’s the one that excited me the most! I’m also waiting for its big sister, the Véloce XL at the beginning of December, which I think will be more adapted to my weight and will be more effective in the low range.
It is clear that starting in the T or Véloce range is not recommended in my opinion. These wings require experience because they are technical and demanding. The Rise and Curve are there for that.
I can’t wait to test this Veloce XL and L more precisely.
Finally the transition from 45cm Surf Stab or Veloce 47cm is not very complicated. I didn’t feel like I had less low range. On the other hand, I had the impression to have more speed and maneuverability.
Thank you GONG-GALAXY, Patrice Guénolé and all the GONG Team who make me enjoy each session and dream of my next with top quality, high performance and upgradeable equipment”.
