Since Mathieu expanded his front wings quiver with the new Curve S-T and Fluid S, he has reviewed his different kite foil set-ups. Here is his feedback.
Wing foiler: Beryl, GONG team rider on the Catch FSP 2X Kite Foil and 100cm Monobloc Carbon Mast.
“The Fluid S and Curve ST do not really need to be presented, the Fluid and Curve DNA are found respectively in the 2 front wings. But on the other hand the speed and the radicalism are boosted. They are the same wings as their big sisters but on steroids.
The Curve ST has more control than the Fluid S. It’s easier in waves or rough seas. Being able to slow down and keep lift at low speed to get through a wave for example is for me the advantage of the Curve ST over the Fluid S.
On the other hand, the Fluid S is more radical, it surfs super fast, it turns hard. You have to be careful.
To summarize this is how I use these foils:
low wind: Fluid M when strapless with a 85cm mast or Fluid S when strapped with a 100cm mast.
strong wind, flat water: Fluid S strapless with a 100cm mast or Curve ST strapless with a 85cm mast
strong wind, waves or big swell: Curve ST in strapless with a mast of 85cm
very strong wind: Fluid S strapless with a 85cm mast (I did a session in more than 40 knots with the Unik 3.3 and 14m of lines, I changed between Fatal 5’0 and foil)
The Curve ST and Fluid S are for me two complementary and essential wings for winter storms.
Bravo GONG for these new foils! ”
