“A look back at the Curve H V3 FG 3XL in Downwind mode”
Two years after starting Downwind with the Curve H V2 3XL, I am very often on the Veloce H V3 2XL but I felt that I was missing a slow foil for very light conditions where the Veloce is too fast for the swell.
My fond memories of the Curve H and the very attractive price of the new V3 version available in FiberGlass convinced me to place an order.
Compared to the V2 of the same size (3XL), the V3 has less surface area and wingspan, but the shape must be more efficient because the lift and low-end performance are the same as the V2, even though I weigh more now.”
A Curve in time with the swell
“The smaller wingspan also makes the wing more playful.
I think the glide has also been improved because I felt I had all the time I needed to make trajectory decisions, but that may be because my reading of the swell is better than it was 2 years ago.
In terms of pumping, it's probably very similar to the V2. I rediscovered the feeling of a thicker wing that requires more energy than a Veloce H, obviously, but being in harmony with the slow swell made the experience very pleasant. A bit like a slow jog in terms of effort.
A front wing that has its place
“I am happy with my choice which fills a gap.
Another positive point is that at my place the biggest problem is algae, but a slow foil is a real asset for getting through and pulling without forcing, a bit like a tractor.
P.S.: I only own one stabilizer, the Veloce HM, and for me it works very well with it.
