There is a good reason why we describe the Carter as a ‘“one quiver board”, a board you can take on a trip around the world. David illustrates this at home in splendid conditions.

A very fast board that can handle radical maneuvers
“I hadn’t picked up a surfboard for many years as I have been focused on SUP. I thought that for my first sessions a retro surfboard would be good for me, with more volume and easy to maneuver to have fun in small, flat waves. My surprise was that it was a very fast board and that you could do radical maneuvers, even though it was a fairly large board, a 7’8. The volume is centered on the middle and front part, which allows you to enter the wave well in advance, but the tail and rails allow you to give speed to the board and move the board with ease. You can also take off in powerful waves. In the most critical part of the wave, having control at all times, the rail allows you to hold on to the wave perfectly and the tail allows you to make the bottom with ease.”
The carter on bigger waves
“Since it was going so well I decided to use it with bigger waves. I thought that the board, being made of EPS material, would be too light and that I would jump in the wave, and that being so wide it would be difficult for me to do the bottom turn, but quite the opposite!!! When you surf waves of a certain size there are several important things, the board has to allow you to enter the wave in advance…the volume allows it, a controlled take off… the rails hold the board to the wall of the wave, preventing the board from skidding, you can engage a deep turn to give speed to the board that allows you to link another maneuver or enter the tube…the pin tail gives you control and at no time do you lose speed. It is a very complete
