FEEDBACK: CARBON MAST HM V3
A brief comparative feedback from Sébastien, who rides a quiver of HM77, HM85, and HM92 masts, with thicknesses of 19mm, 14mm, and 13mm, respectively.
Wingfoiler: Malo, GONG team rider, with a HM85 V3 mast.
Three masts for wing foiling
'I’m fortunate to have all three masts. Each one is a high-quality product with unique features that suit different riding styles. Here are some of my thoughts:
I’ve ridden all three for wing foiling and used the 77 for dockstarts.
Their design is very nice and well-finished.
Overall, the 77 in this version is not really suitable for wing use.
It feels too short too quickly and makes it hard to avoid stalling. It’s a rigid, unyielding block.
At this thickness, it’s clearly designed for dockstarts and works perfectly for foiling behind a boat.
HM85 or HM92?
“For the 85 and 92: I hesitated for a long time between these two masts for use on my choppy home spot in Marseille.
Both are super smooth, but the 92 definitely stands out when it comes to glide and comfort.
They’re both extremely rigid.
If your focus is on freeride, freerace, downwind, or freefly—without jumping—then go for the 92. It’s not the best when it comes to jumps and landings.
But if jumps are part of your session, the 85 is a better pick. You sacrifice a bit of comfort at high speeds, but it’s still plenty fast.
So don’t hesitate—enjoy the ride!”
