Feedback from Sébastien, GONG ambassador, who had the opportunity to test the new Ascent.

Wing foiler: Moritz, GONG team rider, Mint FSP 2X, wing Plus, Alu V3 mast, front wing and Ascent stab.

Takeoff in light wind

“As a 70 kg experienced wing foiler, I was lucky to test the full Ascent pack from GONG, in sizes ranging from S to XXL, along with their matching stabilizers.
So far, I’ve only spent time on the Ascent XL front wing, paired with the L stab, all mounted on my Cruzader HIPE 6'6.

The test took place in light wind conditions, around 12 to 15 knots, ideal for evaluating the foil’s takeoff and glide capabilities.

From the very first runs, what immediately struck me was how easily it lifts off. The foil takes off smoothly, even in very light wind, making it extremely accessible and confidence-inspiring.”

Freefly, maneuverability & upwind performance

“In freefly, I was pleasantly surprised by the stability and smoothness of the ride.
The glide is good, even though the top speed is a bit limited—but clearly, that’s not what this foil is made for.

For a rider looking to progress and build confidence while keeping solid maneuverability, this foil is an excellent choice. I also found it highly maneuverable, which made it fun to ride in the swell.

One thing that really amazed me was the incredible upwind ability—its capacity to climb back upwind was shocking, 😱 even to my friends. I was genuinely surprised by that feature.”

A foil to progress and evolve with

To sum it up: this is a stable, easy foil with great glide, perfect for progressing and pushing further. And that insane upwind ability? I really liked this range, to be honest. 🤙”
