“After 2 years of waiting, because of other projects, I finally received my Pie 7’11 EPS !!! She is superb! the whiteness of her hurts the eyes, it changes from my PU Boards that look all yellow after a while! And it’s super lightweight for her size!
I got to do 2 test sessions in 1.20 m clean, 1.50 m in bigger series, glassy, so perfect for testing.
FYI, I’m 1.68m, 65kg and soon to be 40 years old. It’s been almost 20 years since I’ve been surfing and 80% of the time on a 9 foot Longboard.
Already, paddling is as simple as on a Longboard. I was comfortable immediately. The rails in front are quite fat, which is appreciable at the top of the wave for the hold. At the take off, it’s very stable, no need to play the equilibrists for stability.
1st wave: the
surf Board took off without me: shock: it starts quickly!
2nd wave: take off easy, then sequence of bottom and top turns smooth as butter: mrgreen:
3rd wave: I pressed so much on the back and the rail during the take off (habit of the longboard) that I went out of wave by doing a 180°: shock:
In any case, as the L’Ours wrote, it starts from the same place as the Longboards with the same ease! It’s mind blowing!
On the other hand, you have to get used to the take off … I tended to be too far up front and pearl it when the waves were a little hollow. After, I got the hang of it. Unlike a Longboard that will accelerate gradually at startup, there, as soon as the wave lifts the back, it’s as if someone pushed you forward. Like a big kick in the A …: D
In short it’s going fast, especially in front side and it’s super maneuvering. The curves are linked with ease, just as described on the Board description.
Me who wanted a playful Board,
Shortboardtype, without sacrificing paddling comfort, I finally found what I was looking for !!! I am very happy !!! I think that now I will have to reconsider the range of uses of my other Boards … because everything seemed simpler with the Pie. This is my first EPS, but except maybe a little nervousness besides, I was not shocked by the difference between the PU.
Thanks to the L’Ours for this super shape and the comments of the Forum for helping me make my choice.”
