The HIPE Pro Tour continues to visit GONG ambassadors with a stop at Jérôme’s home spot where he was able to compare the 5’1 to his HIPE 4’11.

“As part of the HIPE Pro Tour I was able to test the HIPE Pro 5’1 on Monday. Everything has already been said but my feelings confirm the previous feedbacks!
I usually ride a 4’11 HIPE…and thought it would be a setback to sail on a bigger, bulkier board…well not at all! In reality the 2 boards are very close, the greater thickness of the 5’1 is only noticeable when on the beach.
On the water I immediately felt great on it. 25 liters more adds a lot of comfort and I found it very stable. The body of water was very choppy so it was difficult on this test to check the superior glide BUT in surfing it is amazingly easy!
I loved it !!!
I almost nailed all my tacks (with switch of feet). I guess it’s a bit stiffer than the 4’11 and not bulky at all! The touchdowns have less consequences. I landed the only jump I attempted rather smoothly with a quick relaunch.
So in summary, it’s all POSITIVE!!!
I even came to wonder what size I would take between 4’8 and 5’1, is it better to look for compactness or glide and (excess of) comfort?”
