Learn how to adjust the position of your mast on your new strapped board with a simple trick shared by L’Ours!

New to wing foiling? Follow our advice in this How To on how to adjust the position of your mast. It’s all very simple but when you decide to put on a rear foot strap or when you switch to a new strapped board, it can get tricky. Indeed, while strapless winging allows you to compensate for poor adjustment of your mast by moving your feet, winging in the straps requires perfect adjustment to feel comfortable!

L’Ours shares a little tip to avoid going back and forth to the beach to adjust your setting.

“The easy and basic setting for wing foiling is to put the middle of the mast in line, or just behind, the front screw of the rear strap. Which means the trailing edge will roughly be in the middle of your foot. The optimal setting is a few centimeters behind this basic setting. On a faster foil (Ypra) you should set it further back and further forward with a slower foil (X-over).

It should also be set more forward with a stab that is too small for the front wing, and vice versa. With this tip you immediately know where to position your foil on a new board. Everyone has their own way of finding the position they like, but it’s an excellent solution when you don’t know.”
