Mount the battens on the strutless

The new Strutless is equipped with 3 fiber battens. The use of the new battens placed at each tip is optional. These enhance stability at high speeds. We gain in maneuverability, in high range, in heading, and in relaunching.

The 3 battens are introduced in their sleeve by the trailing edge like on a windsurf sail and are secured with a hook and loop strip. It’s a quick and easy routine to adopt. Just note two essential things:

  • The battens must be placed before inflating the kite, otherwise the end of the batten sleeve can not be reached.
  • If you are not sheltered from the wind to inflate, which is usually the case, unfold your kite downwind holding one of the tips. That is, one tip windward and another to leewind, with the extrados of the kite on the sand side. Place sand on the windward tip to hold the kite in place so you can mount the battens quietly.
Then you can inflate your kite as usual. In addition to a drag reduced by 40% which is completely crazy in terms of performance, all you have to do now is to inflate the leading edge 😉
