Wing foil Board Inflatable HIPE Learn

Program
The super easy inflatable wing board for off the foil sailing and learning to fly without pressure!
Presentation
The Learn allows you to start winging and progress step by step
Unlike classic wing boards, you can actually sail, simply on the water, with a HIPE Learn and go upwind without having to fly. It behaves like a windsurf equipped with a centerboard.
This means you no longer have any pressure: you can progress step by step, it's up to you to fly or just cruise quietly!
Feeling confident is essential before getting into takeoffs and above water flights. The Learn is made for that. Stable and efficient for your needs, it's the perfect board for a complete beginner. No specific background is necessary to get started with it.
You ride it either with anti-drift fins or with the foil, depending on your progress. The new composite plate is made for all these configurations. So you can learn how to handle the wing before learning how to fly: one step after another to ensure progress.
Obviously these qualities make it a great board for sailing clubs, but it is also perfect for an individual beginners who wants to take their time, or even just ride a wing on the water in light wind.
With its generous shape, it’s also perfectly suited for learning SUP foil.
Like all HIPEs in the GONG range, it is the ultimate combination of the performance of rigid boards with the advantages of inflatable ones. This innovative system of hybrid dropstitch boards with a molded composite rigid plate, 100% from our GONG design offices, is an absolute revolution in the world of inflatable foil boards. In a beginners early days and to absorb shocks, inflatable technology is THE ideal material.

6’5, A COMPACT AND EASY SHAPE
The shape of the HIPE Learn 6’5 is designed to make learning easier.
The overall width is important, from tail to nose, so that the Learn 6’5 is stable despite its limited length. And this is the essential character of this Learn: very easy without being too bulky.
The centered max width gives a lot of versatility and erases errors because it’s placed where a beginner needs it.
The wide square tail, but not excessively, provides a lot of front/rear stability to accept the placement errors of a beginner. It avoids tumbling in choppy water.
The very wide round nose prevents sinking, without pushing too much water. It’s a perfect compromise between balance and glide.
The rocker placed under the wide nose prevents the board from sticking to the water. It will be more forgiving in the touches in flight to restart without falling. This absence of sanction makes you more serene and will make you progress even faster…
Designed to navigate easily on the water thanks to the ADS system before take-off is mastered, it allows you to cruise around peacefully to fully understand how to handle the wing. The centerboard/foil switch is super easy and can allow you to change in minutes even during your session.
8’0, A STREAMLINED AND ACCESSIBLE SHAPE
The HIPE Learn 8’0 is designed to start with minimal resistance.
Its slender outline boosts its preflight speed on the water before takeoff with the foil. This Learn 8’0 offers an incomparable glide on the water. It’s stable and effortlessly fast.
Its thin tail seems to generate no drag. It’s amazing when you see it pass by. Like a Race Stand-Up Paddle board, it speeds across the water. And as soon as you want to take off, the board accelerates and flies.
Its pointed nose cuts through the water like a beautiful bow. The feeling is pleasant, even in choppy conditions. The board glides until it gives enough speed to the foil to take off.
Its rather low rocker promotes speed gain. And its fine nose forgives touchdowns.
Designed to navigate easily on the water thanks to the ADS system before takeoff is mastered, it allows you to cruise around peacefully to fully understand how to handle the wing. The centerboard/foil switch is super easy and can allow you to change in minutes even during your session.
ROCKER
Thanks to a tight rocker, both shapes offer optimized glide. Acceleration is smooth and easy, making it perfect for light winds, first sessions, and effortless first flights.
RAILS
Like all inflatable boards, the rails are round. But we’ve optimized this natural shape to let water slip effortlessly along the board, preventing drag.

Buying guide
For whom?
For beginners and clubs, this is a board to take the hassle out of it. It is super easy, while remaining very effective for learning to ride and feeling comfortable from the first sessions.
Its role is to make your life easier. It's true that more experienced riders will want something more dynamic but it will delight thousands of riders looking for first sensations and simplicity.
The HIPE Learn has everything a beginner needs: lightness, durability, smart accessories, and versatility with SUP foil. No need to be in good physical condition or have a particular size, the HIPE Learn is made for EVERYONE!
For what?
The HIPE Learn is the simplest and most effective board to start, without complicating life, and progress quickly. Flat water areas and light conditions (around 10 knots) are ideal for its use and for making your first flights.
It is really the most suitable board for beginners thanks to its volume which offers great stability, so it is accessible for all sizes.
When sailing on the water or in flight, it is great for boosting your progress.
What size?
Is winging new to you? The two shapes of the HIPE Learn are made for you. So which one to choose?
These two HIPEs have very similar volumes between 170 L and 185 L.
The real difference is in the pre-flight glide and the liveliness in the air:
The 6’5 will be livelier, with less inertia, therefore more sporty and modern in its approach because it is a small board in an XXL version.
The 8’0 is the one that will save you from pumping because it glides on its own. More stable in the air, very smooth and relatively fast on the water, it is the one that will give you preflight pleasure. And it will also be the least physical.
Looking to make the most of windless days and get into SUP foil?
The 6’5’s compact shape is perfect for beginners and will support you all the way to catching your first SUP foil waves. Its key advantage? You can paddle without struggling with the constant wobbles of a high-performance board. It keeps the same wing characteristics but with a livelier feel.
The 8’0, with its extra length, makes take-offs smoother and provides even more stability in flight. It’s the most accessible HIPE Learn model for learning SUP foil.
Which quiver mates?
The HIPE Learn is the Wing board for beginners. This is THE discovery board in the HIPE range which will certainly give you the desire to go further in your passion for our sports.
You should of course complete it with a mix of SUPs without foil, surfboards for days when the waves are there, etc. to enjoy every possible session.
Which shape?
The concept of each board of the range can be summed up very simply:
HIPE FIRST: The perfect inflatable foil board for starting out and progressing strapless.
HIPE LEARN: The inflatable board for learning—stable on the water, ideal for first flights, and SUP foil compatible.
HIPE PERF: the inflatable board with 95% of the performance of rigid boards in an easy and scalable shape.
HIPE FREEFLY: the best strapless inflatable foil board.
HIPE STUNT: the inflatable board for surfing/freestyle scoring.
HIPE LETHAL: the must-have inflatable board for wave riding.
HIPE DIAMOND: mid-length with the glide of a downwinder and the handling of a compact board.
HIPE CRUZADER: the inflatable “downwinder” for the highest performance in light wind winging and obviously in DW.
ZUMA: the easy rigid board for SUP foiling and wing foiling, and with good performance.
LANCE: the compact Zuma, with great lateral stability, ideal for beginnings in wing foiling.
CRUZADER POINT: fantastic in SUP downwinders, pumping on the flat, but also in light wind conditions for wing foiling, freefly, surfing, etc…
CRUZADER DIAMOND: compact and easy to paddle shape for downwind SUPing. In wing foiling it’s ideal for light wind conditions, surfing and downwinders.
FLINT: high performance in SUP foiling, really cool for wing foiling because it is simple, stable and efficient. All in one.
MINT: absolute efficiency and ease thanks to its glide. A first-class wing board for take offs in a versatile shape geared towards surfing and freeride.
LEMON: top-notch responsiveness and liveliness in surfing, high performance in freestyle, great stability and lots of glide.
STUNT: 100% surf-freestyle. Great maneuverability. Instant take offs and re-pops.
LETHAL: Absolute surfing radicality for a magical ride in all types of waves.
Which foil wings?
For the quickest progression in the V3 Perf Series range, beginners should opt for an XL front wing (suitable for riders between 50kg and 90kg) paired with a 45cm stabilizer. If you weigh over 90kg, an XXL front wing will help you take off even earlier.
Find more details in our article on the V3 foil lineup.
For winging:
If you're hesitant, start with the X-Over.
If you have some experience in board sports, go for the Ascent.
If you're naturally skilled, begin with the Curve H.
For beginners:
In the X-Over range: ultra-easy and efficient wings at low speed for an effortless start:
- M for 50kg to 65kg riders, suitable for all wind conditions.
- L for 65kg to 75kg riders, suitable for all wind conditions.
- XL for 75kg to 85kg riders, suitable for all wind conditions.
- XXL for 85kg and above or winds below 15 knots.
The Ascent range is more demanding for beginners but will support you further in your progression. Here's how to choose your size:
- S – For riders under 65kg, suitable for all wind conditions.
- M – For 65kg to 75kg, suitable for all wind conditions.
- L – For 75kg to 85kg, suitable for all wind conditions.
- XL – For 85kg to 95kg, suitable for all wind conditions.
- XXL – For 95kg+ or in winds below 15 knots.
The front wing size determines the balance between speed and lift. A smaller wing allows for higher speeds but can feel unstable at low speeds.
Stabilizers play a crucial role. They provide foil stability and contribute to lift, but at the cost of maximum speed.
Thicker stabilizers are slower but offer greater lift, making them more effective at low speeds and ensuring a smoother ride. A wider stabilizer span helps prevent loss of control but reduces maneuverability.
For SUP foiling:
If you're riding in tiny waves or have a strong build, the X-Over wing is the best starting point.
The Ascent is a solid compromise once you’ve mastered the basics.
If you're skilled, go for a Curve H wing—it's faster.
For beginners:
The X-Over range: user-friendly wings designed for smooth low-speed riding:
- L – For riders under 65kg or in powerful waves.
- XL – For 65kg to 75kg riders or softer waves.
- XXL – For 75kg+ riders or very weak waves.
The Ascent range is more demanding for beginners but will support you further in your progression. Here's how to choose your size:
- M – For riders under 65kg or in powerful waves.
- L – For 65kg to 75kg, an all-rounder.
- XL – For 75kg to 85kg or softer waves.
- XXL – For 85kg+ or very weak waves.
Which foil mast?
In wing foiling:
During your first sessions, you can reassure yourself with a short mast (65cm). Falls on the first flights will be less impressive. But apart from when launching, you will have everything to gain with a long mast (85cm and more).
More length = more headroom = easier = more efficient.
Unlike for kite foiling, when winging there is little opposition to the front wing because it pulls less. So we have less leaning angle windward of the mast. So mastering a large mast with a wing is no problem. And since the boards used are much bigger than for kite foiling, the inertia is greater. So your foil is less crazy. Everything is calmer. So don’t be afraid of a long mast
In choppy water, in transitions, in sluggish waters, a large mast will be ten times more pleasant. It will save you from touchdowns and give you the necessary height margin in all your actions.
In SUP foiling:
The 65cm aluminum mast is perfect. If you're a pro, upgrade to a 70cm carbon mast for an exceptional feel.
Positioning of the foil?
For GONG foils, place the top plate in the center of the US rails to start and move it forward a few centimeters when you get into transitions (a sign of good progress).
The more you move it forward, the more the board will pitch nose-up. The more you move it backwards, the more the board nose-dives.
Be careful not to move it too far forward. We often tend not to let their back foot work, especially when we come from kite foiling. However, moving the foil back a little, forces more weight on the back foot and gives a more harmonious attitude and reduces effort.
What paddle length?
For SUP foiling with the HIPE Cruzader, choose a paddle between your height plus 10 cm and your exact height.
Which accessories?
Safety is crucial in all board sports, and even more so with foiling.
Wing leash is a not an option. Without it, your wing can drift dozens of meters away in seconds, stopping only when it crashes into something—usually with damage.
A board leash is crucial, particularly when starting out. It keeps your board nearby, giving you a safety float and preventing it from hitting others. Opt for a 6’ leash with at least a 7mm diameter. Inspect it before each session and replace it yearly—it’s your lifeline.
For optimal safety, a helmet and an impact vest are absolute must-haves.
To enhance safety, we’ve created the Bodyguard textile range, designed to reduce the risk of foil cuts. While the danger is always there, it’s even more significant during the learning phase. We strongly advise taking every precaution possible.
Strapped or strapless? 2 or 3 straps?
Riding strapless feels cool and gives you total freedom. But honestly, performance takes a serious hit…
So, it’s up to you—do you prioritize sensation or performance?
Front straps give you better control and reduce the risk of the foil flipping under your feet. When starting out, they’re a crucial guide for foot positioning and will fast-track your progress.
Begin with only the front straps. You can attach the rear strap as a reference point and a handy grip, but avoid using it at first. Once you're fully comfortable flying, shift the foil back by 2cm to gradually get accustomed to the rear strap.
Good to know:
Never leave your board in the sun—especially an inflatable board, and even more so a black carbon plate, which heats up quickly. Excessive heat can cause delamination!
Be careful when screwing into the foil box. If you go too deep, you’ll pierce the inflatable shell. We supply closed US box inserts, but caution is key.
Never let your foil board get caught in breaking waves, especially near shore. A wave rolling your board can cause significant damage.
Equipments
SCS system
The composite plate is equipped with Smart Connection System (SCS) double entry boxes to easily install and adjust the foil. The double holes correspond to the stance of the holes in your GONG foil plate. Simply present the foil with the brass nuts already mounted on the plate, slide them into the rails without disassembling, tighten the 4 screws, and you're ready to go.
To facilitate foil assembly, our new US fixing brass nuts are connected by a carbon fiber rod and are included with the board. This saves time for foil assembly, and the adjustment is precise. No more risk of losing your brass nuts: you leave them screwed on the plate and slide them into the US rails using the 4 new insertion holes. There's nothing to disassemble: just tighten the screws and go!
Foil adjustment is also easier and more precise with the adjustment information engraved on the plate.
A centerboard can replace the foil for casual sailing
This is the innovation of this HIPE Learn model in favor of a program geared towards classic sailing on the water.
The ICS plate incorporates a US rail and therefore the possibility of installing a standard fin in place of your foil. Directly machined in the composite plate, this rail allows you to enjoy your board without the foil for gradual and gentle learning.
Enjoy peaceful sailing with your wing on the water.
ADS and US box
A short US box located under the nose allows you to install a US fin. This Anti Drift System (ADS) will greatly limit the natural drift of your board, which will save you a painful return while carrying your equipment on the beach. Rather than walking, you will spend more time on the water and therefore progress faster. You no longer have the stress of having to fly to head upwind because your board will naturally be able to do so.
For a SUP foil program, the ADS fin also helps to effectively reduce the row effect when paddling and especially when taking off with small boards.
It's really easier to maintain a trajectory, the wind gain is noticeable on the long tacks. Very simple US system to install, simply slide your fin into its housing and tighten the small manual screw supplied with it.
Carrying handle
The handle in the carbon plate, placed on the hull, is a real comfort enhancement for launching and carrying over short distances. And it has no impact on the rigidity and strength of our plate, which are flawless.
Footstraps
The set of 3 footstraps is included with the board.
Developed for wingfoiling, these moderate coverage straps do not fold during wear. With less surface area on the instep, there is less risk of getting stuck or hitting the foot on the edge of the strap when putting it on quickly. This also allows for better leeward support (with the tip of your foot) and therefore a more natural stance in wing foiling.
Sufficiently rigid, they provide precise control while remaining very comfortable.
The double V-shaped front footstrap perfectly centers the foot on the front of the board. This positioning is more natural and allows for direct and precise control during maneuvers.
Every detail has been carefully crafted to enhance your on-water experience.
Full Deck Pad
The premium full-length 5mm pad delivers maximum grip and comfort while riding.
With its Ridge Traction grooving, borrowed from our hard boards, it delivers superior comfort and unmatched non-slip performance for maximum stability and confidence while learning.
Unlike the dropstitch surface of the board, the pad provides instant feedback—you’ll immediately feel whether your foot is correctly positioned.
Handles
The HIPE Learn is equipped with 4 handles: one at the tail of the board, two on either side of the nose in the front third and one at the nose of your board. Comfortable, extremely resistant and solid, these handles have a well-defined role.
As soon as the equipment is prepared, they will be able to help you with the handling of the boards.
Once in the water, the handles on the front of the board allow you to hold it in the desired direction and facing the wind/waves without being swept away.
Ideal for putting your equipment in order or holding it to listen to the valuable advice from your instructor.
Transport bag with compartments
The HIPE Learn comes in a super practical and durable wheeled travel bag.
Generously sized, it holds your HIPE, foil, and wing while staying within baggage limits on most airlines.
The backpack straps are thickly padded for extra comfort, while the reinforced handles are both sturdy and pleasant to grip.
Integrated compartments on the inside front panel allow for secure and organized storage of your foil parts and hardware. Plus, compression straps minimize the bag’s volume for easy transport.
Pump, hardware and repair kit
The fast double-action pump included is highly efficient, so you’ll be the first one on the water.
The board comes with all necessary screws for the straps and foil top plate.
A repair kit is also included in case of damage (please note that the kit does not include glue, but you can easily find PVC glue at your local hardware store). We also keep spare components in stock, so you can easily restore your board to like-new condition. Everything on an inflatable board is repairable!
