Description

Programme

A refined longboard built to charge hollow, solid waves with precision and control.

Overview

The Moodgun represents the other side of the Moodrive: a longboard designed for conditions where radicality, commitment and control become essential. Narrower, more gunny and more incisive, it is aimed at longboarders who want to charge powerful waves without leaving the longboard world behind.

With its refined shape, the Moodgun is made for pushing your limits in hollow, fast and solid waves. It prioritises precision, line hold and control of your trajectories when the speed builds and every bit of pressure counts.

Unlike the Moodrive or the Hyperdrive, it puts less emphasis on noseriding ease and stance-based performance. Its programme is more committed: attack, draw your line, engage the rails and keep things clean through critical sections.

With its narrower nose and pulled-in rear OFO, the Moodgun behaves like a gun in a longboard format. It lets you take off hard, hold a drawn-out line and stay in control in powerful waves, without being overpowered by the board’s length.

It is a board designed for dynamic, aggressive surfing. More manoeuvrable and more radical than a classic longboard, it invites precise, snappy and tight manoeuvres, with a feel closer to a shortboard while still keeping the early wave entry of a longboard.

With less surface area in the nose, the Moodgun is not aimed at hang ten purists. It is more for riders who want to draw powerful lines, lock into hollow waves, lay down solid carves and surf with authority.

In smaller conditions, a very precise longboarder can also love it. Its low rail-to-rail swing weight lets you place it with pinpoint accuracy and build speed with a very lively feel, while still keeping the paddling and early take-off that are part of longboarding.

In short, the Moodgun is the choice for riders who want a longboard capable of charging serious waves with power, precision and control. It is the ultimate step before a pure gun: a rare combination of length, paddling, manoeuvrability and commitment in a longboard spirit.

Shape
OUTLINE

The Moodgun's outline is designed for optimal control in hollow, powerful waves. With a narrower nose than the Moodrive, this board moves away from noseriding performance to focus on speed and precision on the face.

The pulled-in tips, combined with a more compact tail, let you draw tight lines and keep absolute control in committed conditions. The moderate wide point ensures efficient paddling while maintaining exceptional manoeuvrability.

ROCKER

The Moodgun's rocker is pronounced, with a significant, progressive curve that enhances hold and responsiveness in hollow waves. This pronounced rocker, typical of gunny shapes, makes it easy to fit into steep faces and commit to manoeuvres with precision.

The overall curve is designed to deliver the perfect balance between control at high speed and manoeuvrability in critical sections.

BOTTOM

The Moodgun's bottom shape is all about hold and speed. A flat entry with a spoon helps manage the drop in hollow waves with precision, while the centre section stays flat to generate speed without sacrificing control.

The exit features a double concave V from the fins through to the tail for clean, efficient glide, allowing quick transitions and precise wave reading.

TAIL

The Moodgun's tail, a sharp baby diamond, is designed to deliver extreme precision through turns and maximum stability in powerful conditions. Its compact, refined shape keeps perfect hold in hollow sections, while making tight, committed turns easier.

This tail is a real asset when it comes to unlocking this model's radical side.

RAILS

The rails are pinched and defined to maximise hold in fast, hollow waves. They let you commit hard, hold tight lines and keep the board clean and controlled at high speed.

Their gunny profile delivers a very precise feel underfoot. The board locks onto the rail, responds instantly to foot pressure and keeps real authority through powerful carves.

Single Tab connection: simple, direct and solid

The Single Tab system features a single, extended base on each fin. This design creates a solid connection with the fin box, making installation simple, fin changes quick, and power transfer exceptionally direct.

On the water, the benefits are immediate. The board responds instantly, the fins work without unwanted play, and every input translates into drive, grip and control. This is especially valuable on high performance boards, where precise feedback is essential at high speeds and through committed turns.

The Single Tab system also makes it easy to fine tune your setup for different conditions. Changing fin size, template or flex lets you refine the board's feel in just a few moments. It provides a clean, durable and efficient connection, allowing you to unlock the full potential of the shape.

Good to know: Single Tab fin boxes are only compatible with Single Tab fins.

Key benefits:

  • Simple installation and quick fin changes.
  • Direct connection for immediate response underfoot.
  • Excellent drive, grip and control through powerful turns.

Buying guide

Who is it for?

For surfers who want a committed longboard, designed to charge powerful, hollow and fast waves with precision, control and confidence.

The Moodgun is aimed at technical longboarders who want to keep the paddling, length and wave entry of a longboard, but with a much sharper feel in serious conditions.

It’s not the most logical choice for cruising casually or looking for easy noserides. Its programme is more radical: speed, drawn-out lines, powerful carves, precise positioning and control in critical sections.

It demands commitment, good wave reading and solid foot pressure, but rewards you with a very composed, direct and precise ride when the conditions get more powerful.

What is it for?

The Moodgun is made for riding a longboard in waves where hold and precision become the priority. It lets you get in early, drop hard, hold a fast line and engage the rails without being held back by the board’s length.

Its programme is clearly geared towards committed performance. It favours clean lines, solid carves, hollow sections and waves that demand control at high speed.

It still keeps real manoeuvrability though. Its narrower, more gunny feel lets you place the board precisely, build speed quickly and link more reactive manoeuvres than on a classic longboard.

In smaller conditions, it can also be a lot of fun for skilled riders. A very precise surfer will appreciate its low swing weight rail to rail, early take-off and ability to place itself with pinpoint accuracy.

What board size?

The Moodgun comes in 9’0, 9’3 and 9’6, with volumes from 61L to 73L. This range lets you fine-tune length, paddling and control according to your size, level and the waves you’re targeting.

The 9’0 is the most radical and the liveliest. It suits longboarders who want maximum precision, manoeuvrability and response in powerful waves or in smaller conditions surfed with intensity.

The 9’3 offers an excellent balance of paddling, hold and manoeuvrability. It’s the go-to choice for those who want to charge with more confidence without losing the Moodgun’s sharp character.

The 9’6 brings more length, more paddling and more presence in solid waves. It makes sense for bigger riders, powerful spots or surfers who want to maximise wave entry and line hold.

What waves does it suit best?

Size: from shoulder-high to well overhead, depending on your level, the spot and how hard you want to charge.

Power: it performs best in waves with push, hollow faces, long fast sections and conditions where you need to hold a clean line.

Shape: it prefers clean, open, fast and well-shaped waves. That’s where its gunny outline, pinched rails and pronounced rocker really come into their own.

It can also work in smaller waves with some decent size. In that case, it delivers a very lively, precise and radical feel, but it will demand more technique than a fuller, more forgiving longboard.

What fin setup?

The Moodgun is designed as a 2+1, with a central US box and two Single Tab side fins. This setup is ideal for keeping hold, drive and precision in fast waves.

The central US box lets you tune the board’s behaviour. Moving the centre fin forward makes the Moodgun more mobile and more responsive. Moving it back gives more line hold, stability and control in big carves.

The Single Tab side fins reinforce its committed feel. They add grip through your turns, drive through your lines and more precision when you push hard off the tail.

For powerful waves, go for a setup that brings hold and confidence. For smaller waves or more reactive surfing, a looser setup will free the board up more.

Which shape should you choose?

Choose the Moodgun if you want a gunny, precise and committed longboard, capable of charging serious waves while keeping the paddling and longboard DNA.

Choose the Moodrive if you want a more versatile performance longboard, with more room to alternate powerful turns, radical manoeuvres and noserides.

Choose the Hyperdrive if you want the most competition-oriented, fastest and most reactive version of the performance programme, with more focus on speed, speed build-up and precision from tail to nose.

If your priority is pure noseriding, long drawn-out lines and ease of movement, a more dedicated noserider longboard will make more sense. The Moodgun is made for those who want to charge, draw lines and commit.

Frequent questions
Who is the Moodgun for?

The Moodgun is aimed at surfers looking for a committed longboard, capable of taking on powerful, hollow, fast waves with precision. It is built for technical longboarders who want to keep the paddling of a longboard, but with a more gunny, more incisive feel.

What is the difference between the Moodgun and the Moodrive?

The Moodrive is a more versatile performance longboard, capable of mixing powerful turns, radical manoeuvres and noserides. The Moodgun is more specialised: it prioritises drawn-out lines, hold at high speed, committed carves and control in serious waves.

Is the Moodgun made for noseriding?

That’s not its main purpose. With its narrower nose, the Moodgun puts less emphasis on ease in classic noseriding. It can let you walk forward when the section allows it, but its real playground remains committed surfing off the tail, fast lines and powerful waves.

What kind of waves does the Moodgun perform best in?

It performs at its best in clean, hollow, fast and powerful waves, from shoulder-high to well overhead depending on your level. It loves open faces, long fast sections and conditions where you need to hold a clean line with control.

Is the Moodgun difficult to surf?

It demands more commitment than a classic longboard. Its narrower outline, pinched rails and gunny programme require solid foot pressure and good wave reading. In return, it delivers a very composed, precise and predictable ride as the speed builds.

Can the Moodgun be used in small waves?

Yes, for advanced riders. In small waves, a precise rider can love its compact feel rail to rail, its responsiveness and its ability to slot into position with pinpoint accuracy. On the other hand, it will be less forgiving and offer less lift than a more classic longboard.

Which size should you choose in Moodgun?

The 9’0 is the liveliest and most radical, ideal for maximising manoeuvrability and precision. The 9’3 offers the best balance of paddling, hold and control. The 9’6 brings more length, easier wave entry and more presence in solid waves or for bigger riders.

Which fin setup should you choose on the Moodgun?

The Moodgun is designed as a 2+1, with a central US box and two Single Tab side fins. Moving the centre fin forward makes the board more manoeuvrable. Moving it back gives you more hold in your line and better control through big carving turns. The side fins add drive, grip and precision for committed surfing off the tail.
