EPS PRO Technology

  • 3D shape on modeling software.
  • Preshape by numerical control for total reliability.
  • Shape control by traditional templates, finishing off the last mm 100% by hand.
  • Epoxy resin and EPS foam blank: solid and lightweight.
  • Epoxy/carbon fiber and fiberglass stratification on a high density polystyrene blank 28kg/m³ reinforced by 3 wooden stringers of 3mm.
  • Deck detail: 1 layer of 6oz fiberglass and 1 layer of 6oz carbon fiber.
  • Hull detail: 1 layer of 6oz carbon fiber, with 2 patches of 6oz carbon fiber for reinforcement around the US rails to avoid breakage in front of the foil attachment during stalls.
  • PVC reinforcement 80kg/m3 with a thickness of 3.5 cm integrating the 2 US rails.
  • Resin tinted hot coat : nobility of the process, weight saving and solidity of the finish.
  • Hand-made matt “custom finish” for weight saving and a better glide.
  • This technology is easily repairable as new in the event of dings or accidents, and has an excellent lightness / dynamism ratio highlighting all the technical qualities of the shape.
  • These boards are 100% shaped and glassed in our factory in Asia, which strictly replicates our methods developed in France and tested worldwide.

These boards are built with our very reinforced EPS Pro GONG technology to meet the specific constraints of the foil: EPS foam blank with stringers, stratification of the deck and hull with carbon fiber and foil box reinforcements +++

The EPS Pro combines lightness, dynamism and durability combines lightness and liveliness to allow the shape to express itself 100%. This modern technology is popular with the most technical foilers looking for strapless responsiveness.

EPS Pro is the new technology developed especially for surf foiling boards! It is a blend of everything you want in a surf foiling board. Lightweight, with no concession on solidity, this technology provides responsiveness, dynamism and durability. Finally, this technology is eye-catching, we can only love it.

The shape is cut with a numerical control (CNC) from a high-end and lightweight EPS foam blank. This guarantees great precision in the shape since the robot will shape the board until leaving only one millimeter of manual finishing.

We then apply a first layer of carbon fiber on the bottom as well as two high-basis-weight carbon fiber reinforcements on the box area. On the deck of the board, are then successively applied a layer of fiberglass and a layer of carbon fiber, both of high-basis-weight. In total, the rails are therefore covered with 3 layers of fibers: it is super strong and very rigid. This construction energizes the board while being super light.

The boxes are integrated in a large reinforcement of high density PVC foam. The foam blank is hollowed out to glue the reinforcement with epoxy resin and high-basis-weight fiberglass. The whole is hydrophobic. This laying base rests on the central stringer which fits to the shape of the reinforcement. The two outer stringers laterally consolidate the reinforcement block on which it leans. The whole is incredibly solid (light years away from low-end tech with the boxes glued directly in the foam blank).

The area of the foil box, subjected to very significant forces, is reinforced with 2 layers of carbon fiber in addition to the hull layers to guarantee flawless strength. This stepped reinforcement diffuses flexion in high stress to prevent breakage. A superb piece of work.

Then come the finishing coats with a first hot coat in epoxy resin, super strong to shocks, which seals the board. Then a polyester hot coat which will equalize the micro variations of the surface (less than a millimeter) for a perfect finish.

And finally the decoration which is as light as possible, therefore with transparency effects which reveal the construction for the greatest pleasure of the eyes. We don’t like painting because it puts on a lot of weight and it’s fragile. We prefer noble materials directly accessible under your eyes and sublimated by some stylish decorative elements.

At GONG our boards are the highest quality. Our low prices may come as a surprise, but they can only be explained by our direct sales model which eliminates margins.

Finally if by bad luck you damage your board, it will be easily repairable because it was well built. We stock components for your preferred repairer and publish dozens of tutorials to help you maintain your equipment throughout its life.
