Based in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, Deury’s journey began far from professional sports, growing up in a rural environment surrounded by farms and nature where opportunities were limited. After moving to Cabarete to live with his father, everything changed when he discovered kiteboarding through his brother—what started as a hobby quickly became his passion, motivation, and life path.

Inspired by GONG’s authentic energy, rider-focused mindset, and commitment to pushing innovation and performance, he was drawn to the brand’s strong connection with its community and the feeling behind its gear. Deury’s strength lies in his adaptability, shaped by his background, combined with a freestyle foundation, competition mindset, and deep love for the lifestyle of kiteboarding. Most proud of the journey he has taken from humble beginnings to representing his roots on the world stage, he is excited to continue progressing as an athlete, creating content, contributing to gear development, and growing alongside the GONG family.
