STRAP OR STRAPLESS

Riding strapless is sexy because it makes you feel free. But quite honestly you’ll have less performance… So, it’s up to you to see if sensation prevails over performance. On a Lemon, we’re clearly going to miss 90% of its potential without straps.

With straps, you’ll have much more control and much less risk of having the Foil flipping under your feet. In the waves, it’s obvious, you gain a lot with straps. You can recuperate from some crazy situations just by pulling up your feet.

Put your straps in a central position (3rd hole) for the front, and the same goes for the back strap if you’re still riding that one.

If you want to be able to get the back foot out for transitions and surfing, put the back strap on the first hole.

In a strap, your foot should never be too tight or too loose.

People who ride strapless often do it because they are scared of getting hurt with straps. But the reality of the practice shows that strapped riding is much less dangerous. On the sole condition of properly adjusting your straps:

  • Too tight: your toes are in but not in control.
  • Too open: your foot goes in too deep and risks getting stuck.
  • The right adjustment: the strap is on the beginning of the kick, and the base of the big toe is barely visible vertically.

Key points:

  • Choose between freedom and performance (whatever your level).
  • Have the right setting that will combine comfort AND safety.
