Priority rules

Priority Rules for Kitesurfing :

When Kiting, as in other water sports such as Surfing, there are Rules of Priority on the water. Respecting these rules is very important to avoid collisions and for a healthy, pleasant and fluid navigation for all.

Here are the basics :

The kitesurfer leaving the beach is always the priority. He who returning to the beach must therefore go downwind or turn around.

When two Kitesurfers are about to cross, the Kitesurfer who navigates to the right to the priority of the right and must lift his Kite. The Kitesurfer who goes to the left must go downwind and lower his Kite to avoid any entanglement.

The Kitesurfer going faster than another does not have priority. He must then either overtake downwind or turn around.

The Kitesurfer on a wave has the priority.

During a jump, you need a free zone of 50m downwind and 30m in the wind to avoid collisions, with other riders.
