Floater

This trick consists of projecting yourself up the outer wall of the tube or breaking wave, to ride on it for a while, and to come off with a pop and land at the bottom of the wave.

You can make a Floater either when a tube section is in front of you, or when the wave is going too fast.

Generally, we do Floaters when the tube is too small to get into or when one is caught off guard.

Beyond the complexity of projecting up the tube when it has not yet collapsed and foaming, you must also add in the fact that you will have to ride a cylinder rolling over on itself. So, the trajectory is not parallel to the wave. We must aim a little behind and correct the trajectory while maintaining some decent speed.

The biggest issue that arises when doing a Floater is precisely that we cannot generate speed any more. So, we will perform this maneuver with some momentum and get back to the slope and back down the wave just before losing what’s left of our speed.
