Eject

Knowing how to eject from your board is very important. Either for getting out of the water or for ejecting during a jump. If you do not do it well and you get stuck with one foot in the strap, you could hurt yourself. To avoid this problem, read this how to…
Eject yourself at the end of your session
First, we will see how to eject yourself at the end of your session. Make your way slowly towards the beach (no need to go full speed in 50cm of water). Try to get as close to the beach as possible while being careful to fly high enough so as not to touch the bottom.
Once you feel you are close enough, you will slightly sail into the wind while pressing down on the board to jump and release your feet from the straps. To avoid getting stuck, first lift your heels so that the upper part of your feet slide off the straps. Once this is done, all you have to do is use the wing as a parachute and cushion the landing well so you don’t hurt your ankles. If you don’t feel like landing on your feet, you may very well land on your belly. Rest assured the belly flop won’t hurt since you are hanging from the wing. Plus, you won’t sink into the water.
After that, you just have to get up, grab the board and get out of the water. The technique I just explained to you also works very well in normal navigation.
Eject yourself into the air
Now we will see how to eject yourself during a jump. In most cases, you will have to eject yourself into the air because your feet are not in the straps or you feel that the landing is going to go wrong.
In these cases, you will need to swing the board slightly behind you in the air and then push on it to eject yourself. Similar to arriving on the beach, first lift your heels to slip off the straps. It’s important to throw the board behind you. Indeed, if you push it in front, you will land on it for sure and risk hurting yourself very badly on the foil. Another note, try to let go of the board quite late in the jump.
Because if you eject too early, the leash will have time to stretch and bring the board back on you. Once you’re out of contact with the board, all you need to do is to hang on to the wing and let go as you enter the water.
Here you go, now you know how to eject yourself safely…
