Why use a wing foil boardbag?

A board cover is a must-have when traveling with your wing foil board in search of new spots. The various board constructions on the market are fragile and prone to impact damage. The travel bags we offer are high quality and help keep your board in good condition—scratch- and damage-free—for the long run.

Protecting your board during transport—whether by bike, car, or plane—is crucial, as most damage happens on land, not on the water.

There are plenty of options depending on your needs and budget. Always choose a cover based on your board’s length and shape. Opt for one that is equal to or slightly longer than your board.

While a cover’s main function is to protect your board from shocks and sunlight, it also makes it easier to handle. It’s much simpler to carry your board over the shoulder or lift it onto your car roof with a proper bag.

How to Choose the Right Wing Foil Board Bag

Choosing the best wing foil board bag depends on several factors:

Construction and thickness: Heavier padding is better if you plan serious trips with greater risk of damage.
Outline match: Make sure the shape of the cover suits your board’s outline.
Size: Pick a cover that is equal to or slightly larger than your board.

For travel, it’s better to go a little too big than too small. A larger bag gives you room to add extra padding or store accessories at the board’s ends, adding a layer of protection to reduce the risk of damage.

For example, you can wrap a wetsuit or poncho around the nose and tail—areas most exposed to impacts.

However, a bag that’s too big may offer poor protection. Your board should stay securely in place, with the nose and tail properly aligned with the bag’s reinforced zones.

GONG Wing foil boardbags

GONG WING FOIL LUXE BAG
This is the perfect everyday protection for carrying all your gear—or heading off on a trip. The 10 mm thick foam offers excellent protection across the entire surface of the board. The bag fully opens so you can store not just your board, but also accessories, wetsuits, or a change mat. It also makes it easy to clean the inside of the bag.

Multiple sizes are available to protect a wide range of boards. Some longboard-type models even include a central Velcro opening so you can fit a deep center fin without removing it.

Example: For a LANCE 5’8 (172.7 x 77.5 cm), choose a LUXE BAG size 5’10 x 31 (180 x 80 cm). To also pack a wing and foil, go for size 5’10 x 33 (180 x 87 cm).

GONG WING FOIL TRAVEL BAG
Built on the same base as the LUXE version, this cover features a 20 cm high sidewall, making it easy to carry one board, three wings, and even a foil laid flat on the board.

The Travel range includes all the benefits of the LUXE bags, with added volume for your quiver, built-in wheels for easier transport, a zippered internal divider, and extra reinforcements.

The zippered divider lets you fully open the bag without spilling its contents—your board on one side, wings on the other. Super handy on site! This makes it the perfect bag for travel or road trips.

Example: For a LEMON 5’2 (157.5 x 66.5 cm), go for a LUXE BAG in size 5’3 x 25 (160 x 68 cm). If you want to also pack a wing and foil, pick 5’3 x 31 (160 x 80 cm).

How to Maintain Your Boardbag

Sand, salt, and moisture clog and corrode zippers—the main cause of boardbag failure.

To extend your cover’s lifespan, we recommend rinsing the zipper regularly with fresh water, even if it's salt-resistant. The same care should be given to wetsuit zippers.

You can also use Zip Care on your zippers. This maintenance product is perfect for plastic and metal zippers. Its unique brush applicator allows you to apply the product between the zipper teeth and physically remove dirt, salt residue, and dust.

A must-have to stay watertight in all conditions!
