TEAM NEWS: PODIUM IN TÜRKİYE!
This weekend, the 2025 Audi WingFoil Racing World Cup Türkiye continued under challenging conditions on the Bosphorus. The wind remained strong and very gusty, making every race strategic and demanding for the 55 riders from 14 nations.
Francesco, GONG team rider, on his Racer FSP Pro board, Pulse Race wing, and Ypra Race foil.
Francesco Cappuzzo stayed consistent and secured a prime spot for the final phase.
Final phase format: 10 qualified riders, divided into 4 heats. The provisional ranking determines the start:
- 1st and 2nd → directly to the final (with an advantage of 2 and 1 bullets respectively)
- 3rd and 4th → to the semi-final
- 5th and 6th → to the quarter-final
- 7th to 10th → to the eighth-final (repechage)
In each race, the top 2 move up a stage. In the final, the first rider to reach 3 bullets wins the competition.
GONG team riders Francesco and Bastien led the pack on their Racer FSP Pro boards, Pulse Race wings, and Ypra Race foils.
Three GONG team riders in the final phase:
- Francesco, 3rd in the provisional ranking, starts in the semi-final.
- Bastien, 11th after the start of qualifications, raced strongly and climbed to 8th, entering the eighth-final.
- Charlotte starts in the women’s quarter-final.
Final phase results:
Bastien was eliminated in the eighth-final after a strong fight, finishing 9th overall. Charlotte finished 3rd in her quarter-final, placing 7th in this World Cup.
Francesco delivered an intense semi-final against Mathis Ghio, Oscar Leclair, and Ernesto De Amicis. By finishing in the top 2, he secured a spot in the final alongside Mathis Ghio, Alessandro Jose Tomasi (2 bullets), and Kamil Manowiecki (1 bullet).
In the final, tension was high but Alessandro quickly took the win in the first race, earning his 3rd bullet, while Francesco claimed an impressive 3rd place, showing top-level performance in extremely challenging conditions. Congratulations on this well-deserved podium!
