Malo Guénolé, GONG team rider, became wing foiling Surf-Slalom world champion and vice-world champion in Surf-Freestyle at the Youth World Cup gathering the best under 19 year old riders!

The second and last round of the Youth World Cup which took place this weekend in Saint-Pierre-la-Mer allowed 17-year-old Malo to demonstrate his speed in Surf-Slalom against the future world elite in wing foiling! A field of fired up young guns, some of whom are already shining on the world tour! Malo won 5 races out of 10 and finished second 3 times. Only Petros Kontarinis was able to hold the comparison over all the Surf-Slalom heats. Our team rider was for the occasion aligned with 100% production gear, a Lethal FSP Pro, a Ypra Foil and a Pulse in the light wind.

In the Surf-Freestyle comp, the big favorites of the event, Malo and Chris McDonald logically met in the final as they did in the first event which took place in Oliva, Spain, last June. We once again witnessed a very close heat between these two future champions. Despite a dying wind that in the final no longer exceeded 8 knots, each competitor managed to execute their tricks, in an almost identical succession, including back and front flips. Super tricky conditions in which Malo had to give up first place on a last trick that wasn’t as clean as the one landed by his opponent. A very close call and once again, a final which, despite the conditions, did not disappoint in terms of intensity! Hats off to Chris for this win which grants him the title in Surf-Freestyle ahead of Malo, who becomes vice-champion.
A duel between good friends that will continue in Tarifa this month, on the big scene of the world tour where Malo reached the final of the last event in Lanzarote.
Congratulations to all the competitors for their performances and a huge congrats to Malo for this first world title!
