HOW TO : choose the right volume !!!
The floation rule is well known. But on a SUP, experience shows that many things influence this rule.
The mistakes that the SUPer does decrease the buoyancy. The chop and back wash can have the same effect.
The rule says that to float the absolute value of the board’s volume must be more than the AV of the weight of the SUPer plus the AV of the weight of the board.
In facts, we advise you to take 10L more if you are very good skilled, 20L if you are experienced, 40L More for beginners.
Note that the water on the top of the boards helps the balance. The big width helps the balance to. These two things combined permits to go on with very low volume.
