More efficient wings mean more planing hulls!
As wings gain performance, particularly in terms of power, the use of more planing hulls becomes essential to get the most out of them. This is the case of our 2024 shapes which are much more conducive to gliding before flight, for a less physical and earlier take off.
More than an evolution of shapes, our 2024 wing boards mark a paradigm shift that redefines riding conditions, as well as the choice of equipment and foil size. Plus a few collateral benefits we detail below…

The ongoing paradigm shift
The new shapes offered by the 2024 range reflect the new direction that this sport is taking. We’re riding on increasingly smaller foils and venturing into wind ranges we never imagined we’d be able to fly in. This spectacular evolution is accompanied by the parallel development of wings, foils and boards. Planing before flying is now the preferred way to take off. This translates into 2024 shapes that have more glide, thanks to very flat rockers and sharps rails.

Collateral benefits
The direct benefit of this paradigm shift is earlier take off with less effort. We don’t necessarily give priority to tonic pumping to release the foil from the water, but instead we let ourselves glide before taking off. Physical effort is reduced, and the low-end improves for the same foil. Which brings us to the collateral benefits:
- We can now switch to smaller foils because we’re pumping less on the foil to take off. We start out gliding.
- Touchdowns are painless, for example when you’re surfing, the board glides over the water and makes you take off again with fluidity if you touch the surface between two solid turns.
- Repop is spectacular in freestyle. These new shapes literally bounce off the water, opening the door to unprecedented combinations based on a single pop. On the Tour, combos have become a must for winning heats.
- We’re much less concerned about its ability to take off again in lightwind. We ride more serenely, because touchdowns have no consequences, and taking off again becomes a formality for an experienced wing foiler. If you want an extra guarantee, go for a streamlined shape like the Cruzader Point or Cruzader Diamond. This means we try harder, make more progress and have more fun. And that’s what it’s all about!
