Why use a double profile in wing foiling?

This GONG innovation has revolutionized freeracing and racing in wing foiling by providing exceptional glide. 

The strong low pressure usually found in the intrados is smoothed out, resulting in very clean laminar flows.

Depending on the program, we adjust the coverage of the double profile on the original profile. The greater the coverage, the more glide is gained and the less power is produced. At 100%, a classic wing would be unrecognizable for example.

On the Pulse DP Team Series, we aim for maximum endurance at very high speeds, so it has a 50% double profile.

However, on the SuperPower and Pulse Perf Series, we want to maintain more power for easy takeoff in very light wind and strong relaunches. Therefore, these two wings from the Perf Series range are equipped with only a 30% double profile.

The maneuvers and overall feel are similar to a classic wing, but with much more glide, acceleration, and stability. It is very close to a racing sail in windsurfing. Full tilt speed runs are a delight on such a wing.
