Review of the Veloce H from the point of view of a kite foiler with Alex on the GONG Galaxy group.

Kite foiler: Béryl, GONG staff, with a Kiwii HDCC, Elips Aramid DP and Veloce H setup.

Ultimate light wind and fast free-ride foil

“Initial impression of Veloce H XS v3 on kite: Ultimate light wind and fast free-ride foil!

I was using Ypra-S S as fast foil, Fluid XXS v2 as playful foil, and Fluid S v2 as a light wind foil. This now replaces the Ypra-S and Fluid S. Wind was 5-6kts and got up on second attempt with a 15m foil kite, then never came off foil until the wind completely stopped. The apparent wind generation is awesome, once you are going you do not stop.

All the benefits with speed and glide of the Ypra-S, and way more accessible low end. It is like a 600cm2 foil which has low end like a 750-800cm2 foil. For a kitefoil, you do notice it is not so easy to yaw on the spot, the foil prefers more carved turns. Rail to rail is very healthy though, while also being very stable when locking in at speed.”

Setup with the HM107 mast

“Using it with an HM107 v2 mast and Veloce S v3 stab. Close up photos of the v2 mast- v3 fuse connection for anyone curious. The sides are basically flush, while front and back upper portion meets up below the top surface of the fuselage by a few mm.

107 mast for kite - I love it. It's fast, low drag, stiff and lots of safety/clearance for leaning over and riding fast through chop. Huge difference on all front vs Alu. I have an HM85 mast for wing foil and travel, but it's not as comfortable to reach as high speeds on kite. Wingfoil is much less keeled over as compared to having a 15m foil kite pulling you.”

Veloce stab with an extra front wing?

“I'm using the Veloce v3 S stab. It feels perfectly balanced. I read Patrice post somewhere that on kite you can use one size down on stab, but S is the smallest size stab available in Veloce series. I wanted to focus on glide and efficiency, so I didn't want to go for the Fluid stab. Veloce series is good for low front foot pressure at speed, and I wanted to keep that aspect. I've always had at least a 2 front foil kite quiver. After riding the Veloce H v3 I'm really thinking this could be the 1 do it all FW. On the other hand, gear acquisition syndrome is real. For a 2nd FW I'd probably go for the Fluid H 3XS v3 or Surf-Freestyle XXS.”
