A mid-length with more floatation

"A little feedback on my latest purchase from GONG, the Steve 8’6.
I don’t understand how Patrice managed to create this board without knowing me!! It’s perfect for me. I think he must have been secretly watching me to spot all my flaws.
I usually surf boards from 7’6 to 8’0, with volumes between 57 and 62 liters. I’m 57 years old, 84 kg, and 1m98 tall. I bought this board mainly for backup spots that are far from the shore and crowded with longboards. I needed more floatation than usual but didn’t want to buy a longboard."

Early take-off and playful ride

"The shape is very original and beautiful, the take-off is really early, and for a board with this much volume, I find it really playful.

I haven’t yet used the fin sold with the board but a similar type to the one shown in the presentation video, in 7’5. I position it far forward for more maneuverability, and also because I have a bad habit of keeping my back foot too far forward on the board.

I’m really super happy with my choice, especially since several years ago I bought a Pie that didn’t suit me at all (…).
