First session with the Pulse DP Perf Series for Aurélien on Lake Geneva.

When the Pulse DP UPEA was launched, I didn't want to switch immediately, as I mainly use the Curve H XL V2 in light winds (most of my Lake Geneva sessions). I thought there would be a probable discrepancy between the motor and the drag. Also, the 50% overlap “scared” me in the very light range (I mean 6-8knts). And yet, coming from the aeronautical world, this double profile seemed to make perfect sense!
So I was riding a prototype Pulse 5² UPE. A kind of Pulse Team Series without DP. The power reserve in light wind is a delight to take off with.”
Take off in light winds
“Received wing yesterday. Today, a small opportunity to test it: a very slight breeze. Anemos forecast a gust to 9knts, average 7knts max. Nothing better to see if a DP with 30% overlap can take off. And yes, it can!! I bore away a bit more in the gust. At first, no pumping movements with my legs. Only light, non-vertical pumping with the wing, to get it to lift without cavitation and to gently ventilate the profile. GPS: 3.5 knots.
And let’s go! Pumping with the legs, not letting up with the arms while picking up the pace and bang, up in the air! And a jibe as soon as possible, because it’s glassy in 50 meters. No weird reactions.”
DP and Veloce in symbiosis
“High on the 92 V3 mast, Veloce H XL V3, Veloce L V3 stab, it accelerates up to nearly 15 knots with the harness!!! And the lake is... flat. Great discovery of a wing I would describe as 'fiery.' Windsurfers will understand. It’s such a joy to feel the wing trying to go upwind. And to remind you, the front wing is only 1150cm²!
So yes, on land it feels heavier than my Droid UPEA 5m², but it didn’t bother me. No, even when flipped upside down in the water, zero issues. Yes, I’ve adopted it, because using this 30% DP with the Veloce H V3 1150cm² seems coherent.
I’m sure Geneva riders can attest to the ‘strength’ of the wind this afternoon!”
