The new reference for full tilt sailing and among Race specialists has passed through François' hands to reach unprecedented speeds.
The Glide of the HM107 Team Series Mast
"What a glide ! I can’t believe the glide of this 107HM. Flat session, 15/18/20 knots max, radiant sunshine, and no swell. Perfectcp, conditions to test this 107 mast on the ocean and continue to get a feel for the gear.
For now, I decided to use a stabilizer I know by heart... the Freestyle 37, not the best for glide but I find it very stable and rigid as I like it. In front, firstly the Curve H 700 that I love, then back to beach to move the mast back and change to the Ypra-S in size 785cm2 (no 600 yet in my bag, and the 700 out of stock for a while).
With the Curve H 700, it's total bliss, it glides surprisingly well, I hit over 24 knots for 10 seconds. Yet, there wasn’t much air on the water and gusts didn't exceed 17/18 knots, I was on a Droid UPE Aramid 5.5 and my faithful Cruzader Point 5'6 XL."
Mast position adjustment and switching to Ypra-S
"But with my mast too far forward, and therefore not in the right position to go on full attack mode, I decided to have a break to move it back and switch to the Ypra-S 785 without changing the stabilizer (the next session will be with a Veloce 40 stabilizer). With this Ypra-S, I decided to move from position 7 to 5. And it was a very good adjustment for me (and could even have moved to position 4 I think), to be perfectly balanced.
And what a blast, yes, the glide of this front wing is majestic, stable, and smoothes out the little chop.
It's true that the Freestyle 37 stabilizer doesn't necessarily go with this front wing. It pulls a bit of water and therefore doesn't glide as well as a Veloce, but I feel good on it, it reassures me for this hectic session... 54km in 2h."
Acceleration, Upwind Riding, and Commitment
"In short, I tried to push it at my little level, far from the very good or pro riders, and you have to start somewhere...
But quickly, despite having an XL size, I realized my harness line was too short. I definitely need a longer harness line.
So I'm unhooked during my accelerations, and my god does this 107 accelerate 😅😱.
You go from 0 to 100 at the slightest gust...
Close-hauled is also fast and angled... there's angle, no worries, and not only is there angle but it also glides fast.
So I have a blast for 2h, and this flat session that would have been quickly "boring" with my usual 85HM turns into an adrenaline-fueled session and a rush of heat with every speed increase... so good!!
And this feeling of high-speed cruising is exhilarating... it's like kite foiling but with a wing.....🔥🙏"
Top speeds
"In short, a very nice session where I almost hit 27 knots and more than 26 knots for 10 seconds several times in a row. It puts a smile on my face...
There were just 15/20 knots so this should be even better with the 4.5 Neutra in 20/25 knots. T
o be continued with Veloce 40 now and I also plan to change to a longer harness line for the next sessions.
Anyway, every half knot or less is difficult to gain... that's when you realize you need the right gear to break the 30 knots barrier and above all, a serious commitment.... congratulations to those who fully committing to speed because it can give you cold sweats with the slightest mistake even at lower speeds🙏👏 .
Enjoy🤙🤙"
