Back from a dockstart session with a bunch of friends and new gear, David shares his first impressions on our new pumping board.

A new sport

“Thanks to the daylight saving time change, I can now go for dockstart sessions again after work! 🥳 I was able to test my new Kluber 80 and thanks to a colleague the 95! Obviously super excited about replacing the surf foil board I was using last year for my dock start sessions. To go straight to it, this board makes it another sport!”

First try with the Kluber 80

“I had a first go on my Kluber 80. I jumped on the board and immediately found my bearings. As if I had been pump foiling all winter. I thought I just got lucky but as it turned out, all the following attempts were super smooth too. Really a super nice feeling. It feels like being directly supported by the foil, rather than the board. It’s super light. No wind resistance. No inertia that hinders high-low pumping movements. Consequently I was much more in tune with the behavior of the foil (Sirus XXL set-up and Fluid H 49 stab). I had a better feel for it. I even managed to rest in the gliding phases of the foil.”

First try with the Kluber 95

“With the Kluber 95 I crashed on the first try. I had placed my stance too much forward on the board. I had to change my reference points compared to the 80 (which doesn’t really require having reference points ;)). I made it work on the second try though. The sensations are comparable to the 80. It’s so effective. And with too much confidence I fell 150m from the dock… Well, you can’t paddle it as a surf foiling board… but it’s doable.”

Size preferences

“In conclusion, there were 4 of us sharing the two different set-ups and paradoxically the biggest guys preferred the 80. You don’t have to think about your stance and off you go. The 95 was preferred by the lightest guy of the group who liked to have space on the board to readjust their weight distribution. It must be said that the Sirus set-up was perhaps a little oversized for him… Making him want to readjust all the time. That’s it for my first impressions. The icing on the cake, it fits in the transport bag of the foil, I can’t believe it 🙃. Have a good one!”
