Stepping up from a beginner board
“Here’s my take on the 5’6 Diamond HIPE. I got it for my wife—she started on a Lance 5’7 and absolutely loved it. She was flying steady on both tacks in winds from 12 to 30 knots. Time to level up with something lower volume and more responsive. I receive the board, inflate it, and think UH OH I’m gonna get wrecked! Super narrow and thin, but hey, at least it’s got some length… First session: she hops on, pops up, and lifts off right away! RELIEF—it works like a charm. It’s stable, insanely easy and fast to get flying, and handles like a dream.”
Lightness and low-end takeoff
“Took the board out in 12–15 knots with a 5m to see how it really rides (I’m 85 kg). First thing you notice is how light it is—super easy to carry and instantly responsive underfoot. The balance is next level. Totally different from a compact board—you can move around, switch feet while still, no stress. Just two quick pumps and a slight bear away—it glides, builds speed, and takes off effortlessly! This shape is unreal for taking off. Finally, an inflatable that doesn't stick to the water—no suction feel at all!”
Freeride and freefly program
“Then you end up with a board that, although it has a bit more front-to-back inertia, is lively in turns and maneuvers. The reduced weight and narrow width definitely help! Honestly, whenever the wind was under 15 knots, I’d regularly steal her board. I’d throw on my Ypra-S XL V2 and boom—instant fun! Small warning: the pad is super grippy but really harsh on the knees.”
